I wonder if this is a subtle warning to the democRATs that if they plan to impeach GWB should they (Heaven forbid) gain the majority, that they will yield up President Cheney. Watch for the assault on the Veep to precede the assault on the President as visions of Speaker Pilosi dance in their heads.

"many commentators observed that Bush was the fellow with whom you would rather have a beer"

Except for the fact that he doesn't drink!

So let me get this straight: the press hates everything Bush has ever done, he's the most evil person ever, but wait ... we realize he's just a puppet, and now we're directing all of our anger at Cheney et al?

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Cheney's ill health was just a smoke screen? And the reason we haven't seen too many leaders at the top of the GOP is because Cheney is planning to grab the GOP nomination in 2008?

Talk about panic -- the dems would drop dead of it.

Robert Kuttner. That this rabid hysteric font of unwashed hate speech still has a job is proof the Globe is nothing but a sad sick paradoy of a serious new organization.

Amazing how the Leftists, and RINOS, have vapors when an Ann Coulter says really minor things but day in and day out dozens and doze of Kuttner types spew their hate speech from the Left all over the country and not a word from the usual "moderates".

Why even post such drivel?

Robert Kuttner is an economist, he doesn't have enough access to the WH to know what Cheney does during the day much less render an opinion on his influence.

He probably just got through watching "Bush's Brain" and "Fahrenheit 9/11" and felt like he was just as informed as the next average DUmmie.

Robert Kuttner is co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect and nothing more than a Watergate retread.

I'm old enough to remember a time when a "made in Japan" label on a product was tantamount to stating in bold letters that the product inside was garbage. In a similar fashion, the Robert Kuttner label on an article is tantamount to stating in bold letters that the article's content is garbage. Over time, through innovation, diligent and painstaking effort, and attention to detail, the Japanese have largely overcome their failings in manufacturing. I do not hold out much hope that Robert Kuttner has the strength of character, intelligence, or will do the same with his writing...

Hey, Cheney has been pretty bored since he retired from business. He needs to get some time in on running things while not shooting his best friend. Several years ago he bought the NRA, has controlling interest in Remington, Browning and Ithaca. Several weeks ago, his minions sabataged the BP pipeline in Alaska to drive up fuel prices in order to kill women and children this winter. The $6.9 million he gave to charity is from the billions he skimmed as CEO of Halliburton. There is nothing about Cheney that would surprise me.

Mostly a BS piece. One thing is certain. Dick Cheney is the "enforcer". His appointment as VP was a crucial factor in my original support for GWBush back in 1999. Whatever the MSM may say about the VPOTUS, Cheney remains a critical part of the Bush administration. Too bad his health will stop him from running for Prez in 2008. He'd get most conservatives vote, including mine.

You got it! I've been saying forever that the dems are already hyperventilating about even the thought of Cheney running for President.

This is just more of the same attack they have been doing for the last 6 years.
