I think he's a good man, but I want to warn all of you who are not from the conservative South. If he were to win the Republican nomination, massive amounts of fundamentalist Baptists and near-Baptists will sit out this election rather than vote for a Mormon. It won't be enough to lose the Solid South, but there could be key losses in border states in the Electoral College. Which, of course, would be a disaster.

Mormons are pro-life and have good family values. I don't believe an evangelical would allow theological disagreements to get in the way of backing a pro-family candidate on account of that candidate being a Mormon.

(No more Olmert! No more Kadima! No more Oslo! )

Your right. I think the Baptists will be happier with Hillary than Mitt.

Here is another case of it being seemingly illogical for people not voting for the man because he is Mormon but the reality is what has to be considered. I have no problem at all with MR's Mormonism. While I don't believe that Mormons are even properly Christian, they are a repository of American and Christian values and practices. But many Christians will not vote for a Mormon. Ergo MR cannot win. It is like Giuliani. Perhaps it is true that at this point the War is all-important and Giuliani is the best prospect for fighting the War but Christians will not be enthusiastic and many will not get around to voting. He will lose the election.

I know where you are coming from, but I don't think it will be as big an issue as you think.

I don't get the problem folks have with Mormons. Okay, they don't drink coffee or drink but that's their deal. As long as they don't interfere with my own caffeine addiction, I'm fine with that. However, keep me from my coffee and I will go BERSERK.
