CARACAS, Venezuela -- The Associated Press filed a request under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act last year seeking documents from the U.S. Agency for International Development detailing its funding of non-governmental organizations in Venezuela.

The AP sought USAID contracts for grants to groups in Venezuela since January 2004. About nine months after the AP's request, USAID released 132 grant contracts, totaling some 1,600 pages, for 2004 and 2005.

Christopher Toothtaker is an AP reporter in Caracas who seems to be on the take from the Chavistas. Now he's suddenly interested in the one thing the chavistas want to know: who's getting democracy funding from the US so that they can throw them in jail. If you were a Venezuelan democracy dissident, wouldn't you be terrified at these AP scumbags? Hugo Chavez's prisons practice torture and that's what AP would want for you. AP is willing to be the handmaiden of Chavista evil, doing Hugo's dirty work. This is utterly foul. And it is also treason against the US. These AP dirtbags are just as bad as the photoshoppers in Beirut. In fact, they probably are the same as the photoshoppers in Beirut! They should be tried for treason! They are democracy's maggots.

Budding outlaw countries have no need to develop intelligence sources as long as the media is doing their dirty work for them.

I wonder how long before journalists take up their "wet" work.

Either classify the info if needed or its fair game. Too often withholding such info only protects balatant examples of government idiocy and missteps.
