The U.S. interstate highway system was built to give military tanks easy access to the inner cities in order to put down the expected revolution by black militants.
The technocrats who died in the Twin Towers were the equivalent of little Adolph Eichmans.
The United States government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks for its own benefit.
The above three statements were all theories proffered by college professors: the first at Chicago State University in 1969, and the second by professor Ward Churchill of the University of Colorado in 2001. The third and most recent is by professor Kenneth Barrett at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, whose views and re-hiring have been condemned by politicians and pundits, from Wisconsin's Gov. Jim Doyle to Fox TV's Bill O'Reilly.
Should college professors be fired for expressing radical views?

That is the difference between teaching and promoting your opinion.
I took a lot of English classes. And theatre. So for things like that, interpretations were (sadly) fairly open to stupidity.
However, my astronomy professor once told us there was a big blue dragon living on the moon. So I'm with ya.
The cost of a college education is approaching $50,000 per year. They could cut their payroll in half if they just got rid of all the Ward Churchills on their staffs.
If you go to the site mentioned here, to read the rest, you read the first page, and when you try to get to the second, a page flips up requiring your personal info before they give you the second half. Not fair. Not right. Bamboozled?
As long as those radical views support left wing agendas, I say "express away!"
What really gets me is when someone like Larry Summers bilges sexist filth like the suggestion that "innate differences" between men and women help explain the lack of top-level female professionals in science and engineering.
People who don't think like I do should be taken out and SHOT!
Do I really need the /sarcasm tag?
Too many professors see themselves as demi-gods. "Truth" is whatever they deem it to be in their little twisted minds.
The answer is yes. Not only fired, but prosecuted.
I don't think that these professors should be fired, it is just that the reputations of the schools that hire them should be brought into question.
If they hire and tenure professors with such low academic standards, what does that say about the quality if education you should expect to get from these schools???
Then, maybe, colleges would look more closely at their hiring practices and not hire these bozos in the first place.
Yes, Dwight Eisenhower in 1956, when the Interstate Highway Act was passed, was really worrying about race riots in inner cities.
How did retards get to be college professors in the first place?
Nah, not really. They just want to drop a cookie to show their advertisers their demographics. I clean my cookies fairly regularly. AL.com is harmless.
I would like to know more about the big blue dragon on the moon. LOL
...the first at Chicago State University ...That 'place' in an insult to "Chicago", all "States" and every "University".
I'd rather have open heart surgery by a graduate of Mona's Beauty School and Nail Emporium than hire, work with, and/or have to depend on any 'graduate' of that 'place' for anything.
(I think one of their Degree Programs is "What's 2+2". If your answer is between 3 and 6 ... you pass)
For what it's worth, the first thing on my syllabus is "Opinions are for people too lazy to look up the facts." Of course, that's just my opinion.
I wasn't aware that Chicago State was around in '69 - I thought they opened later.
"The cost of a college education is approaching $50,000 per year... "
Right, and a newly-tenured prof at Middlebury (no, it's not Ivy, and it's not even 2nd tier) makes $112,000 per year. And the whole academic "community" is being propped up by tax subsidized student loans. If they had to survive like the rest of us, that is, without tax support or charitable giving, I bet the salaries would be more civilized and the profs would be more "attuned" to the real world's values and vision. If students had to pay up front, without loans or scholarships (funded by gov't, indirectly)colleges would have to be much more responsive to their "marketplace", and prices would fall, rapidly. I think the Ward Churchills would not be given tenure in that more monitarily honest and transparent structure, only because the colleges would see how they could threaten their ability to draw self-paying students. We might even- gasp- get profs who actually teach because they enjoy it, not to get rich off the taxpayers or to spew anti-American hatred. The profs who wouldn't like the new structure would be free to join Public TV or NPR.
Something for everyone.
Taken out and SHOT? Say, whos the real Nazi here?
Sorry. I'd better start washing my cookies, instead of munching on them.
There is a significant difference between expressing radical views and expressing moronic tripe.
Chicago State's English Dept used to be run Kanye West's mother.
