Did Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald Lie?
INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY ^ | 8/29/06 | Editorial

Posted on 08/29/2006 5:53:58 PM PDT by Laverne

Plamegate: Patrick Fitzgerald's three-year manhunt to track down who blew Valerie Plame's CIA "cover" has been exposed as a costly sham. He apparently knew all along that his man was not Scooter Libby. ...

But it's hard to see anything but politics as the motivation for Fitzgerald's handling of the Plame affair. The facts indicate that Fitzgerald knew early on that the original leaker was State Department official Richard Armitage. So why did Fitzgerald let a cloud hang over White House adviser Karl Rove's head for so long? And why is Fitzgerald continuing to hound Libby, the former vice presidential chief of staff?

Instead the Dems are likely to use him in their administration since W is handing them the WH.

"Not only did Fitzy know, but I would expect most of the media knew....yet they perpetuated their false story all along. "

Just like they did during Starr's investigation when his office was investigated for leaking to the press- they knew the white House was the source of their leaks yet they wrote story after story on U.S. District Judge Norma Holloway Johnson's investigation of his office for the leaks.

http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a39655c453722.htm
"Mr. Starr and his staff were the targets of a blistering public assault by White House lawyers and Mr. Clinton's personal attorney, David E. Kendall. He first raised the issue of media leaks in February 1998 and later persuaded the court to investigate the matter.
Mr. Kendall accused Mr. Starr of illegally leaking grand jury information on the president's liaison with Miss Lewinsky. In a 15-page letter to Mr. Starr released by the White House, Mr. Kendall said he intended to "seek judicial relief from these tactics, including contempt sanctions."

Members of the media make money and get promoted for doing this.
Pete yost recieved a promotion at AP after using a democrat judge's leak to print that Starr was considering empaneling a new grand jury- just before Al Gore accepted the democrat nomination... and letting Starr get blamed for the leak.

Lying for the Dems is just good business in our corrupt media.

If you think this was dirty politics, wait and see what happens should the Dems manage a majority in the House. The articles of impeachment are already written and the truth has nothing to do with anything.

I would like to know what Comey's motive was and if the AG endorsed his choice. Initially I thought that Ashcroft stepped aside out of an abundance of caution. If he knew that there was nothing to it, he probably thought it best that the news be independently delivered. Now I wonder about everyone in the chain of events, including Ashcroft.

I am one of the freepers here that believes the republicans have some surprises coming before the elections with the indicting and snaring of donks in several different leak investigations, and of course Jefferson's legal woes. The Jefferson indictments I believe will be small potatos compared to the snaring of other donks.

There is a reason Rockefeller has been silent since before General Hayden's CIA confirmation, and the back surgery story is a ruse.

Ashcroft is clear IMO. He is a staunch Bush family ally and that has not ever been disputed. He stepped aside for conflict of appearance reasons. Legally he did not have to, but ethically and morally it was right.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald refused to reveal to the public the true source. From top to bottom, this has been one of the most disgraceful abuses of prosecutorial power in this country's history.

'Disgraceful' is the right word.

>>and Tony Snow should make a big stink in an upcoming press conference.

I'd pay to see that on PPV, but it'll be free on CSPAN, if it happens. < *crosses fingers*>

Tony is on vacation, and I expect the next we'll see him is after Labor Day.

Well, Comey has long been thought to have an agenda and the truth was not one of them.

I don't know anything about Comey but it would be interesting to know if he had any influence on the disposition of the Sandy Berger case which allowed Berger to plead to a misdemeanor instead of a felony. Of of Comey's subordinates, Noel Hillsman, handled the Berger case according to news accounts but I have always wondered if he did it on his own or by direction of someone higher.

True. Remember, the campaign for '06 does not really begin until Labor Day. I'm expecting that the Rove-designed Republican machine will kick in. I'm thinking the RATS won't know what hit them when November gets here.
