The other angle here is that blacks favor Mfume over Cardin by a 68-19 margin. If Mfume loses, how disappointed will the average black voter be, and how motiviated will they be to come out and back Cardin in the general election? If a Cardin primary win depresses black turnout in November, that's a plus for Steele.

Dear BlackRazor,

I'm sure that the Dems will try to come up with some well-paid sinecure for Mr. Mfume after he is defeated by Mr. Cardin. That, and a chauffeured private car, will likely make an enthusiastic Cardin supporter out of Mr. Mfume.
