How do you KNOW that Marc Grossman and Joe Wilson are Friends???
It came out in the pretrial period. Grossman and Wilson went to college together (UCSB), were stationed together in the diplomatic service where Grossman met Wilson. In fact, as I recall, it was Grossman who introduced Wilson to Plame and they have all travelled together on vacations.
I don't know what may or may not have transpired between Grossman and Wilson or Grossman and Armitage over the years, but it is increasingly hard to believe that there have not been serious discussions of these matters among them. Grossman was #3 in the State Dept. under #2 Armitage and #1 Colin Powell. Some unnamed person(s), according to Joe Wilson, urged him to publish his NY Times op-ed, and I suspect strongly that was Grossman and/or Armitage. Grossman and Joe Wilson were both Class of 1972 at UC Santa Barbara and went into State Dept. careers which turned out to have some interesting overlaps in geographical proximity (leading up to Gulf War I, Grossman was #2 in the US Embassy in Turkey while Wilson was #2 in US embassy in neighboring Iraq). It may be conceivable in some alternate universe that 2 people from the same college graduating class working in the State Dept. in nearly parallel careers could be posted in Iraq and Turkey at the same time and not know each other well, but I seriously doubt it. Even if they did not have the college connection and/or never met during or after college (possible but unlikely), when they were posted in Ankara and Baghdad it seems extremely likely they would have had meetings at some point.
