Banja Luka. USA military forces started preparing for their pullout of the Eagle base near Tuzla, Serbian agency TANJUG informs citing Bosnian newspaper Oslobojdenje. The news of the pullout of the American troops has caused concern among Sarajevo political circles. Citing reliable sources the Bosnian newspaper announced the Americans will leave the base by the end of the year as they will be replaced by a Dutch battalion. The chair of the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency Sulejman Tihic could not confirm definitely the news of the pullout of the US troops from BiH because “there is no information from official political and diplomatic sources”.

This is a picture of one of those Brits wearing Bosnian Muslim insignia on his hat.

What's interesting is they were located in what was soon to be the place of intense Muslim-Croat fighting. The Croats have often said that the British were in some degree at fault for/involved with the Muslim-Croat war, and perhaps if more was known, it would be shown to be true. One thing is notable, and that is that British soldiers were often stationed very nearby to places where the Bosnian Muslim army and Mujahideen were located and had huge weapon stashes - and where there were slaughters of Croat civilians (including little children and babies) by Muslims - such as Gornji Vakuf. Some Brit mercenaries fought and trained the Muslims; others, such as Scot John MacPhee, fought with the Croats. They did seem to exacerbate the killing and improve the fighting abilities of both.

From a dedication site:

..He had a background in the British Army and was well known to the British UNPROFOR soldiers based in Travnik and at Vitez, the Cheshire Regiment.

…As well as training Bosnian soldiers and leading reconnaissance patrols he acted as an unofficial scout for the Cheshires, guiding them through minefields and artillery bombardments. There was even a rumour that he had helped SAS teams gather intelligence on the Serb forces.

…Local Bosnians believed Ted and Derek were kidnapped by Islamic fundamentalists that had recently arrived in the area. Ted had passed on information about Muslim operations and his frequent visits to the British UNPROFOR base may have aroused suspicions amongst the fundamentalists who would in any case have seen him as a threat to their influence.

Who won the trumpet festival this year, or has it not been decided yet?

Some have the hard wiring point of view that Muslims are as fungible as oil. I think they real believe it, some of them, and want to believe it, and facts will not change that psychological need to believe it. For that particularly cohort, it is a leap of faith as it were. Facts don't matter, and never will.

>Oh, tell them to come to Serbia. Great place. We just are closing a trumpet festival

My brother played jazz
trumpet in the 60s! He
will be sad he missed

that festival there!
(They'll be landing late tonight
in Athens, and spend

two weeks going north
slowly to Romania
and then Hungary.)

My son went in as the so called covering force for the 1st AD in late 96. He was with the 1st ID and was at Camp Demi. That was supposed to be it.

Of course, for some others, it is all about a disingenuous Serb agitprop campaign. It is a maybe I might rope in some dupes thingy.

http://www.thisisthelife.com/en/carnivals-festivals/guca-festival-serbia.htm Forget Glastonbury, Reading, Burning Man and Cochella: the wildest music festival on earth is a cacophonic and crazy brass band festival that takes place every summer in the tiny Serbian town of Guca (pronounced “Gucha”) in the western region of Dragacevo. What began as a small competition for the Dragacevo Assembly of Trumpet Players back in 1961 now attracts nearly half a million people every year. Given Guca’s population is 3000 – it’s some party. For an entire week the sound of thousands of blaring trumpets rends the air, playing everything from traditional Serbian folk and gypsy music to songs by the likes of Goran Bregovic. Grilled meat washed down with potent plum brandy keeps you and the delirious crowd going, and don’t be surprised to see Bregovic or legendary filmmaker Emir Kusturica turn up with his band. The 2005 festival takes place between August 1st and 7th. Get there – and don’t forget your ear plugs! guesst book: http://www.guca.co.yu/guestb/index.php Guca music download: http://www.guca.co.yu/muzika/ And my favourite: "Kalasnikov" hehehe http://www.guca.co.yu/muzika/Slobodan_Salijevic_-_Kalasnjikov.rm

"I belive Boban Markovic (ofcourse) was winner"

That's tiresome. I thought he said something once about not competing anymore to allow others the chance, and because he's won so many times.

Concur, and I run into what I have to assume is a dupe now and then - not the brightest of folk nor the best equipped to deal with having their point of view questioned.

Ah yes, Camp Demi...did you know that when Demi Moore visited she went to see it because it had been named for her. The first winter the troops were there it was one gigantic mudpit, being built as it was in a flood plain of a narrow river valley. I imagine it got better by the time your son got there!
