The Pew Research Center's annual poll on religion and politics, released last week, shows that while 85 percent of voters say religion is important to them, only 26 percent of Americans think the Democratic Party is "friendly" to religion. That's down from 40 percent in the summer of 2004 and 42 percent the year before that—in other words, a 16-point plunge over three years.

When their view of Biblical teaching is that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of a "lack of hospitality" rather than an overabundance of homosexuality this is to be expected.

To liberals, if the men of Sodom had only offered dinner and a movie first, the entire thing would never have happened.

Many Democrats have been deceived about being a Christian.
When I think of the scripture from the Holy Bible, "there is a way that seemeth right but, the end there of is destruction"
I think of the Democrat party.
There is no way you can support the ideology of the Democrat party and say you are a Christian.

I am a native of North Carolina, spent 38 years in the North, then moved back to my beloved home state. Here in the Triad I keep hearing "I am a yellow dog democrat". The same people that go to church every time the church has service, will declare they are the best people on this earth.
Now how can that be, they vote for politicians that are for abortion, some for gay marriage and so on. I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about.
They are generally good people and I think they are good neighbors, ready to offer a helping hand and so on.
They would deny that they support abortion and gay marriage, oh no, not me.

Yes, I sometimes put in "Religious Left" as a keyword when I think it is appropriate.

The way the press covers Hillary Clinton, lifelong Methodist and longtime Baptist Sunday School teacher, comes to mind.

Part of this effort is the so-called "Christian Alliance for Progress" (http://www.christianalliance.org) which bills itself as a movement to reclaim Christianity.

I somehow managed to get myself on their email list and stay on just to see what ridiculous item they will come up with next. Their positions parrot the Democratic Party with no exceptions and there is almost NO reference to Christianity or the Bible excepting occasional statements about the poor and economic justice.

Sometimes I respond to the email (partly to see if they will throw me off their list. And I have gotten into exchanges with the "founder" of the organization (Rev. Timothy F. Simpson ). He consistently parrots the Liberal Democratic position.

I end almost every email with a statement like "I continue to point out that the Christian Alliance claims to base its position on Christian principles and there is not a single Christian principles in your statements." but he never responds to this.
