I'm not saying I'm an expert but...I'm an expert. Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun. Bad things happen at night. Your must identify the threat. Bad guys don't own Surefires. Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun, Put a light on your gun.

1) Anyone can buy a Surefire, including bad guys. 2) Leaving a bright light on for long periods of time makes you a target. Use sparingly for your night vision's sake.
I like the surefires, but I am getting to like the Pentagon lights just as much.
I am wanting a tactical light for perimeter clearing that is small enough I can stick in a pouch, yet has at least 150 Lumens.
Why? Because I have LOOOOONG porch on my house, and live in the woods. I like to check the ends of the house...the dark spots, when I get home late at night.
Many experts frown on the idea. Makes you a target. I had an Insight on my Sig and took it off. I'll light the target at arms length and get my sight picture.
No thanks. I keep my house curtains shear enough so some light always shines through. There's no way I'm turning any light on just moments after I wake up.
I have a Surefire on the slide of the Mossberg. The light cost more than the shotgun, and is worth every penny.
So do you own Surefire stock? ;-)
light on the gun, second light next to the gun. always have a spare.
also the brighter the light the better, and don't turn it on until you need it. a bright light suddenly shining at a bad guy will momentarily stun him, give you the couple seconds needed to get off first shot.
