WASHINGTON, Sept. 1 An enduring mystery of the C.I.A. leak case has been solved in recent days, but with a new twist: Patrick J. Fitzgerald, the prosecutor, knew the identity of the leaker from his very first day in the special counsels chair, but kept the inquiry open for nearly two more years before indicting I. Lewis Libby Jr., Vice President Dick Cheneys former chief of staff, on obstruction charges. Now, the question of whether Mr. Fitzgerald properly exercised his prosecutorial discretion in continuing to pursue possible wrongdoing in the case has become the subject of rich debate on editorial pages and in legal and political circles.

This whole fiasco makes me sick at my stomach!
Who can, or will, defang Fitz? Does anyone, short of the President, have the authority to say "Sit down, boy. You've done enough damage for one lifetime"?
Agreed, and let's not forget the pain and suffering inflicted on members of the Bush Administration for the last three years.
Unfortunately the LAST thing politicians will worry about (if they worry about it at all) is how much money this (or pretty much anything else they do) cost us, the taxpayers.
Almost all politicians believe they have access to an unending supply of the peeples money, and these politicians intend to spend as much as possible.
Worry about taxpayer money?? Don't hold your breath.
Once again the drive-by-media winds up with mud on their collective faces. Will they ever learn? I doubt it.
It feels like the media is trying to get out in front of this story. I wonder if there is another level we have not heard of yet.
Fitz should have to answer for his actions!
Search, it's a function; try it:

So now the drive-by is going to shuck Fitz under the bus.
ROTFLOL! That's what Fitz gets for aligning with them. Now that's he no longer useful to them .. he's getting thrown over. Typical!
I believe the AG has the authority to pull him off the case, and to dismiss the charges against Libbey.
At least that's what I would like to see happen.
That's okay .. I didn't see the first story!
"Search" is not fun ...whenever I do it I find someone else has already posted something I want to post 3 days ago
Just bump it then. :-)
Keyword CIALEAK brings them all up, too.
The AG Gonzales, I believe. This is not a congressional Spec Prosecutor, but one appointed by the AG.
It is up to Gonzales to set things straight, fire Fitzgeraled, arrest Fitzgerald and prosecute Fitzgerald for Prosecutorial Abuse and misappropriating government funds.
Unless of course, Gonzales and Bush knew all along and did nothing.
Then we would have the Paradox wrapped in an Enigma.
That's good!
I don't live on this site and I would have missed the story. And .. I don't automatically search to see if there is any certain type of story before I begin reading what's already there. Maybe some people do .. but I don't.
If the site's admin has a problem with a second story .. they can take care of it - and redirect me to the first one.
From a purely political point of view I believe it is now in the best interest of the administration to let the trial go on. The risk is only to Libby, not to Bush. On the other hand a pardon would certainly be spun by the MSM as "oh, see, they are covering up something".
Far better to let things proceed. The trail will be interesting and fun. Many famous reporters are going to have to go in the witness box and answer questions. That's great! Just the idea of seeing that sanctimonious butt-wipe Tim Russert under oath and sweating makes it worthwhile.
We can difinitively answer the question: did Libby lie to the GJ and FBI. If the answer is "no" then we have the most complete exhonoration of Bush that is possible, and even more egg on the face of the MSM, leftists, and other bush hating retards.
