I started saying to anyone who would listen to me 20 years ago that government was out of control. My family finally got tired of hearing all the time and either tuned me out or mocked me. In the nicest sort of way, you understand. But it was mockery just the same. Now they no longer laugh or mock. They agree I was ahead of my time.

There simply is no facet of today's life that is not in some way controlled or affected by some level of government. And it's getting worse by the hour.

I have had the City of Tampa try to put a lien on my property because it was not mowed to their satisfaction. The scheduled a public hearing to take me on because I let plants that are native to Florida grow along the fence row at the back of our lot. They got me one time because I had not brought in my garbage cans after the pickup. The list goes on and on.

When I peruse the budget of any governmental agency I see line items for thousands of dollars that appear to be for purposes that would have disgusted our Founding Fathers.

Exactly. Checked with a school system (female HR lady) via e-mail about a position they have open. Asked for a phone number so I could inquire about the position. E-mail response: Fill out an application either on paper or online. We'll talk to you then. Sent an e-mail. "I don't recall asking for an application or to apply. Just asked for a phone number to talk to someone about what this job entails." Was referred to a man (tough guy) and his phone number. He answered my questions. Job was to teach kids who ended up in trouble and were in a special classroom. Job description didn't mention that. I hate it when people think I make things up.
