"It is now generally recognized that our country's overall policy failures created a situation whereby a woman or child would take up arms against our forces in the very land we purported to be aiding,"

The man was certainly a good Marine but that does not make his political analysis of the US involvement in Viet Nam valid.

You have to note that he blame the US policy for the North Viet Namese viciousness and use of women and children in combat.

He totally avoids mention of Communist North Viet Nam’s force conscription at the point of a gun of women, children, old and young the murder of uncooperative village leaders, the theft of crops from substance farmers.

No to this man US policy is at fault for women and children carrying arms in Viet Nam.

I'm basically through fighting the Vietnam War but I'll say this; the 58,000+ names on the Wall belong to LBJ's legacy. May he not rest in peace.
