At a time when national passions are heated about illegal aliens from Mexico, the city of Chicago and state of Illinois are promoting an event to honor Mexican independence.

The celebration, called the "2nd Annual Mexican Independence Skyline Tribute," will feature prominent buildings throughout the Windy City being bathed in Mexico's national colors of red, white and green for six days beginning next Tuesday, Sept. 12.

It's receiving heavy promotion from organizers including Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, D-Ill., the Mexican Consulate and Univision radio host Javier Salas.

"The tribute recognizes the important role that Mexican-Americans have played in Chicago over the last century, from the early days of the railroad and stockyard industries through the steel mill boom to the present," a website promoting the tribute states. "Today, an estimated 550,000 Mexican-Americans live in the Chicago area."

At least 20 businesses and landmarks are slated to participate. Buildings including Sears Tower and the Wrigley Building will be illuminated with red and green lights, while other buildings and locations will spell out messages such as "VIVA VIVA."

The event began last year to mark the Sept. 16 Mexican national holiday.

I take exception to the favoring of Mexico over my ancestors native country. If it weren't for Gen. Pulaski, we might not be here today.

I say from now on, on July 4th, the Polish flag should be waved along side the American flag.

Someday in the future an Iraqi student will have a Monday off of school. He will wonder why. He will then be told of a great American President named George W. Bush. He will be told how Pres. Bush helped liberate the country from the evil dictator Sadaam Hussein.

Then him and his friends will go outside, burn an American flag, and chant "Death to America".

The end will be, just as with Rome, the barbarians flooding the country and destorying it.

AND, our government allowing it! Can civil war be far behind??

And the Romans lazy and letting themselves get run over. And not assimilating the barbarians within their borders (yes, Rome should have worked harder to assimilate their Germanics who they let in--legal immigrants).

The sad thing is that our country is going down without much of a fight. Its the elites and political leaders in this country who have not only allowed this flood to happen but who have in many cases encouraged it.

It pisses me off to know that an American city will celebrate foreigners more than they would their own.

Numerous Civil War monuments, memorials, flags, statues, and displays are being pulled down, destroyed, and removed. State flags, mottos, creeds, school mascots, park names, and the lot are changed and renamed. The 10 Commandments are attacked. Old Glory is not welcome in certain places and elected officials refuse to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.

But we can celebrate another country's history.

No email listed to contact The esteemed idiot Daley, but here's his office phone number for all to voice their displeasure about this event!

Celebrating Old Glory in such a manner would undoubtedly bring charges (from the usual suspects) of "racism" and "jingoism". ...and of course, "xenophobia."

And there's nothing liberals fear more than being accused of any of these things; they fear it far more than the destruction of our country. In fact, they appear to welcome the latter.

We're being lulled into apathy. The question is, how can we go about pouring the proverbial bucket of cold water over the country's head before it's too late?

Chigago is a lot closer to Canada - how come they don't celebrate Canada Day?

Sorry to say, but politicians seem to care more about their careers than taking care of us, the American people. I see several articles here tonite about Republicans halting work on immigration bill, well what does that tell you?

We are not being lulled, we know what is happening, but now to figure out WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT!

I've held back on contributions to the republican party, I've told them on the phone & by sending them pesos that we are FED UP, that if they don't close our borders, they will see NO MONEY from me.

Thinks it's more like getting the rug (foundation) pulled out from underneath us at the same time we are being reeducated from every direction. Like a symphony they are conducting, they are cutting off the old nations legs at the same time they are trying to replace them with new legs, and doing it carefully so as to not have the thing fall on its a$$.

George Bush could have gone down in history as the man who ended Islamofacism.

Instead, he will be remembered as the guy who set in motion the destruction of the United States, like all those bumbling forgettable Presidents just before the Civil War who refused to face up to slavery.

It was a great country while it lasted. I'm changing my name to Gomez so my kids will assimilate more easily into the nation of Aztlan.

Rush and others have said we haven't reached our tipping point. After all, it took a while for the Revolution with about 1/3 of the population.

This is just another log on the fire, along with bending over for TROP®, Iran, the EuroWeinies, the MSM, political correctness, the ACLU, energy dependence, a**hole politicians, etc.

It's only a matter of time for another revolution. This forum and others are a start. As Michael Ledeen would say: "Faster"
