GOP Primary Ad in Arizona Sparks Protest

WASHINGTON -- Arizona Republicans in a crowded House primary denounced the national GOP Tuesday for taking sides in the race. "They're idiots," one candidate said.

The National Republican Congressional Committee last week backed a candidate in the primary, launching a $122,000 advertising campaign for state Rep. Steve Huffman. The party contends Huffman is a moderate candidate who could win the district in November.

On Tuesday, Huffman's four GOP opponents took the unusual step of holding a joint news conference and delivering a message to the National Republican Congressional Committee.

"Stay the hell out of southern Arizona," said Mike Hellon, one of the candidates and a former state party chairman, in an interview following the news conference.

"They're idiots,"

Lincoln Chaffey and Arlen Spectre are proof enough of that.

DO NOT donate to the NRCC or NRSC

DO donate to individual conservatives in competitive races

I hope the GOP will start to listen.whenever I get a call from any pac, I simply say I only give money to candidates I directly support. I don't want one dime going to guys like Chaffey or Spectre.

The real deal is on these threads.

The NRCC said they would butt out of the primary in May/June and support the winner of the primary-per Ken Mehlman.

On Friday they (the NRCC) dumped half a million in cash and airtime to the most liberal Republican, who is getting beat on the issues, and resorting to attack ads on other Republicans - in a primary.

The Rats are now running attack ads on the NRCC RINO.

It's as if the NRCC would rather have this district go Dem.

About 13 years ago when I moved here, Tucson was fairly hick.
It's a boomtown now.

We need more Republicans and Conservatives who vote.

Welcome to AZ.

Why I just moved to Arizona from Los Angeles...

...just the same as myself and mine are fixing to do in the next few months.

Care to join me in replacing Senator McVain with a real Republican once you get settled?

Huffman supports mushy new guest worker programs.

We need more Republicans and Conservatives who vote (in AZ).

You'll be getting a couple more in about 90 - 120 days. And in a couple of decades, there'll be at least two more conservatives of voting age in our home.   ;o)

Huffman does not know where he stands on anything. Someone, probably his wife; is telling him what to do and say.

Welcome to Arizona. There is plenty to do here, it gets hot and real estate is expensive, but they are building like crazy.

Kind of hot if you have to work outside. If you do, most work gets done before noon, due to the heat. Generally the humidity is lower than the midwest and east coast, so the heat is bearable until it gets to 115-120. :)

"Noted," responded NRCC spokesman Ed Patru, who would not comment further about the division the party may have created.

Note this, you scumbag.

Here in my district we have the same phenomenom of one RINO replacing the last. The area is prime for a conservative but we keep ending up with scaredy cat "moderates" - - ten years of Jim Greenwood and now four years (and counting) of Mike Fitzpatrick.

Mike is definitely a step up from Greenwood, but I get nervous when I read these reports about the "Tuesday Club". If he gets into bed with that obstructionist "moderate" GOP caucus, I'm done with him for good (and so is my whole local extended family of voters, count on it).

The choking stench you smell is the corpse of the liberal wing of the Republican party. The prez and his ineptness is doing us a favor.

I've been eyeballing J.D. Hayworth for that job. He'd be a great Senator. He was asked to run for Governor but took a pass on it. I'm pretty sure he's holding out for McCain's job.

...real estate is expensive

You kidding me? The wife and I are having a new home built and we're getting 3 times the house for 1/4rd the price of what we could ever get in California. I'm serious. The house we're getting would easily go for $1.2 - $1.5 million where we're currently living...and we'd only get a razor's slice of land surrounding it. Where we're moving to in AZ, we're getting a 3,200 square foot home (two story, so it's got a 1,600 sqft footprint) on an 11,000 square foot lot.

DO NOT donate to the NRCC or NRSC

And if you receive those letters with provided envelopes to send your donations back to them, just print out some currency they'll understand and mail it to them in their own postage-paid envelopes.
