Harris Wins Republican Nomination Poised to Defeat Bill Nelson in November

HARRIS WINS REPUBLICAN NOMINATION

POISED TO DEFEAT BILL NELSON IN NOVEMBER

TAMPA, FL—Congresswoman Katherine Harris received the Republican nomination for United States Senate this evening, and celebrated her landslide victory at campaign headquarters with nearly a hundred grassroots supporters in attendance. Harris received the nomination by winning nearly every one of Florida’s 67 counties, demonstrating voters’ confidence in her leadership and ability to unseat Bill Nelson in November.

Congresswoman Harris states, “I am thankful for the widespread support demonstrated by tonight’s strong victory. I’m thankful for the personal sacrifices made by my family, staff and many dear friends who all united on my behalf because Florida deserves better than Bill Nelson. When elected to the Senate in November, I will finish the fight I started in the House and ensure that Florida remains a place where hard-working families can keep more of their hard-earned money while living in safe and affordable communities.”

While the Harris campaign is very pleased with tonight’s election results, all of our energies will continue to be focused upon unseating the do-nothing liberal incumbent, Bill Nelson. Harris’ opponent has missed countless opportunities to provide the leadership Florida deserves in the United States Senate while she has a clear record of demonstrating leadership and delivering results for all Floridians.

While serving in the State Senate, as Secretary of State, and in the United States Congress, Katherine Harris has fulfilled her promises and fought for Florida’s best interests. Throughout her tenure in public office, Harris has championed legislation to bolster Florida’s economic development, cut taxes, reduce government spending and support traditional values. Katherine Harris will continue to do what is right for the people of Florida and work to advance their values as the next Republican U.S. Senator from the great state of Florida.

Schlessinger can't be compared to Harris. She is a hero. Who the hell is he?

Wait, why is she a hero? Because she simply did her job?

What entitles her to the Senate seat, exactly?

Washington is probably better than a long shot.

The Greens, Whacko Move-on crowd is not real hot on her.
The Repubs and indy's and "Scoop" jackson dems are still mad at the theft of the gov race for Dino Rossi.
Can't vote well does not break 50% in most polls.

A long shot would be in Michigan. Thad hidious cow is not doing much better than 50%. Anti- incumbant mood can throw bot Stabencow and the lovely gov out.

I Agree we got our work cut out in defending Santorum,Burns,Dewine and Talent.

"What entitles her to the Senate seat, exactly?"

At this point, I'd say it's the fact that she is the GOP nominee and a darned sight better than the alternative, the liberal Democrat Bill Nelson.
Still not an entitlement, though, she'll have to earn the votes via a good campaign.

She better establish her electorate cred and directly attack Nelson head on.

She campaigned in the Primary by attacking Nelson and exposing his liberal record. That has been her focus since she announced her campaign.

She reminded Floridians that she was endorsed by the NRA and he's been endorsed by MoveOn.org!

Did you see the passersby yesterday who were honking their horns, cheering, and giving the thumbs up for Katherine Harris? It was an overwhelming show of support. Those folks didn't have R or D registrations on their license plates either.

Are you supporting liberal Bill Nelson for the U.S. Senate race?

OMG, you really believe that too.

Yes, I do....I know Katherine Harris and she's a great campaigner who is focused and works hard at getting out her message.

Nelson is a lackluster, bland as buttermilk, do nothing liberal who has been endorsed by MoveOn.org. He doesn't represent the traditional values of Florida and his voting record reflects that.

Harris will make a strong case to Floridians that she will work harder and represent them better. She will run on her conservative Congressional record. And she has strong grassroots support that wil GOTV for her!

I also think that Independent FL women will support a strong woman like Katherine for the Senate.

Don't believe polls or negative liberal press.....the only poll that matters is on 11/7....

She has been defined by the MSM as a looney rich girl.

LOL--With the MSM' reputation around here, that should be worth another 15 points for Harris. The media coverage has been so biased, everyone is laughing at them.

The only way it stays secret for more than a few hours is if the strategy is never executed--at which point Harris goes into the election with high negatives. Bad idea.

"Everyone fully expected Harris to win the primary."

Perhaps they did, but the lame-stream media did nothing but nay-say.

"However, she has a problem. She has extremely high name recognition--and extremely high negatives. In other words, she has lost her opportunity to make a good first impression. That's a huge negative she's got to overcome."

Every bad thing the demonrats and other sleazebuckets say about her just burnishes her halo.

Every stupid thing her campaign has done has damaged her with swing voters. Conservatives are not an absolute majority of the Florida electorate. She needs to figure out how to undo some of her mistakes of the past few months in 62 days.

don't be silly.

The turn out yesterday was pathetic. I am just stating that we can not be self deluded on this.

We have to fight the real battle not be cheerleaders. Nelson has a SERIOUS political machine that that has stood the test of time. He is tapped into paid union volunteers. He has infrastructure.

Harris endorsements, even harris' attacks on nelson have gone completly unreported in the media. They just focus on her religious coments in order to paint her as a wackado.

She better have some good ammo for the debate.

I will vote for Harris in Nov. Cause there is no way I will vote for Nelson. I give my Congratulations to all candidates who won last night

I can also assure you that Will McBride stated last night that it is important for us all to come together and support our Republican candidates in November and to defeat the Dem's.

I agree it will be a tough race, but Nelson is not popular like Graham not even close.

In a recent poll it was stated that even 41% of Dem's believed it was time for a New Senator.
