Harris Wins Republican Nomination Poised to Defeat Bill Nelson in November

HARRIS WINS REPUBLICAN NOMINATION

POISED TO DEFEAT BILL NELSON IN NOVEMBER

TAMPA, FL—Congresswoman Katherine Harris received the Republican nomination for United States Senate this evening, and celebrated her landslide victory at campaign headquarters with nearly a hundred grassroots supporters in attendance. Harris received the nomination by winning nearly every one of Florida’s 67 counties, demonstrating voters’ confidence in her leadership and ability to unseat Bill Nelson in November.

Congresswoman Harris states, “I am thankful for the widespread support demonstrated by tonight’s strong victory. I’m thankful for the personal sacrifices made by my family, staff and many dear friends who all united on my behalf because Florida deserves better than Bill Nelson. When elected to the Senate in November, I will finish the fight I started in the House and ensure that Florida remains a place where hard-working families can keep more of their hard-earned money while living in safe and affordable communities.”

While the Harris campaign is very pleased with tonight’s election results, all of our energies will continue to be focused upon unseating the do-nothing liberal incumbent, Bill Nelson. Harris’ opponent has missed countless opportunities to provide the leadership Florida deserves in the United States Senate while she has a clear record of demonstrating leadership and delivering results for all Floridians.

While serving in the State Senate, as Secretary of State, and in the United States Congress, Katherine Harris has fulfilled her promises and fought for Florida’s best interests. Throughout her tenure in public office, Harris has championed legislation to bolster Florida’s economic development, cut taxes, reduce government spending and support traditional values. Katherine Harris will continue to do what is right for the people of Florida and work to advance their values as the next Republican U.S. Senator from the great state of Florida.

These polls are the real delicatessen for all the previous so called "intelligent FReeper" poll-freaks who for months daily "spoon fed" us with their "drive-by" L.S.M's propaganda and faked polls!

See post #32. The poll result was quite accurate, and not "faked".

I'd LOVE to see Harris win in November just because it would tick off the Democrats *and* the Bushies in one fell swoop. I think the Bushies will work harder to defeat her than the Dems will.

I don't even understand why some Republicans think it expedient to stab her in the back.

You can put that same question to a plethora of so called "FReeper" who for months used the same tactics regarding posting their anti- Kathrine Harris bashing here, that you would think they were planted moles from the b.n. camp!!!

This win by Harris says this: Whatever the media pundents tell you this election will be as wrong as their prediction in the Harris race.

For me, the bigger question is why no other "big name" republicans stepped forward to put the seat into play.

Oh please, go away. Get behind the nominee and campaign like heck for her. Or go away, just go away.

You are what is wrong with the Republican party. It is people like you that ran away from Dan Quayle when he gave his Murphey Brown speech. It is people like you that are drivign me from the Republican party.

I bet half you guys demanding everyone "get behind" Harris because she is the Republican nominee are REFUSING to support the "official" Republican nominee in half a dozen other states, like Kean in NJ and most notably Schlessinger in CT. Those people legitablity won their party's nomination, where's all the outpouring of freeper support because their "better than the Democrat"? Are you supporting Schlessinger and going to campaign like heck for him, or are you rooting for Al Gore's ol' running Joe Loserman (and his 90% liberal voting record) to win?

Put up or shut up.

I'll hold my nose and support Harris over Nelson, but I certainly won't blindly worship her.

What the hell are you talking about? Nobody in the media or the pollsters spent the last week "predicting" that Harris would be crushed in the primary by Will McBride. They all predicted the other three candidates would split the anti-Harris voted and she'd eek on thur with a minority of Republicans voting for her, which is what happened (Harris "won" with 49% of FL GOP primary voters)

The Harris crowd spent the entire last month trashing McBride and gloating that the polls said Harris would defeat him, and also spent the entire last month dismissing the polls that said Nelson would defeat Harris 3-1 in the GENERAL election.

So the official line from everyone voting for Harris in the primary is the media and pollsters were spot on for the primary election, but lying and skewing the same numbers for the general election.

You guys must suffer from schizophrenia or something. It's the only explanation. If you really think Kathy is running a great campaign, then more the power to you. Bill Nelson thinks so too. You're doing a disservice to FL Republcians everywhere by not waking up and working like hell to get Kathy to improve her candidacy and change course in this election.

Well said.

You act like this is a surprise. Nobody doubted that she would win the primary. It is the election that they say she will lose. Why are we patting each other over something that has been known from the start? I don't get it.

Ha! Take that Jeb; and all you Florida GOP "Big Boys" (heavy emphasis on the word "Boys")who didn't have the guts to run yourself but sat around and criticized Kathy.

woo-hoo.

Now we'll just sit back and wait for the NRSC to flood this race with money. (rolling eyes)

Anyhow, what's done is done. I guess you'll have to learn the hard way. But I sure hope you don't have to.

Either way, I'm burying the hatchet here. There is one single remaining goal for prayers and efforts right now: retire Bill Nelson.

Time for a song from "Twas the Night Before Christmas:"

You hope,
and I'll hurry.
You pray,
and I'll plan.
We'll do what's necessary cause
even a miracle need a hand........

Probably for the same reason Rudy didn't take on Hillary for the NY Senate seat this fall; whatever that reason is......... If anyone knows, let us all in on it.

All the polls I saw had Harris winning the primary with either a majority, or a very large minority. She did.

That worries me, since all the polls indicate a slaughter in November.

Representative Katherine Harris has won the GOP primary, fair and square - -

It is now time to unite around this brave lady, no matter what the chances are for or against her winning the seat that Nelson now occupies .

No challenger is guaranteed to defeat an incumbent, in the end, we make a good go of it- no matter who wins or who loses, we stay faithful to the cause, for Honor & Fidelity are more important than who holds some office in the Senate .

Is that you, Alan Schlesinger? :0)
