Everybody from Rush to the MSM sees a political speech.

And it's bad for the top politician in the party to give a political speech?

I am missing something here.

While you're at it, why don't you make sure everyone understands the sky is blue. Either that, or explain why it bothers you that the President gave a political speech.

Shalom.

Yeah, but he is wrong about some things, IMHO, and makes errors in literary references now and then.

But the Congress never "officially" declared war .. the Dems did not want to give the President the full powers

With the War Powers Act, resolutions authorizing force are as close as a President can get to a declaration of war.

"Our President has just painted the Dem's into a corner!"

PREEEEEEEECISELY! And it's a beautiful thing.

...and such a vibrant shade of yellow it is!

Excerpts from National Review blog:

"...the President has spectacularly ambushed the Democrats on terrain they fondly thought their own. Now Democrats who oppose (and who have vociferously opposed) the Military Commissions will in effect be opposing the prosecution of the terrorists who planned and launched the September 11 attacks for war crimes...

Taken as a whole, the President's maneuver today turned the polical tables completely around. He stole the terms of debate from the Democrats..."

Cornyn up .. says watching this debate from the Dems is like watching an election then fighting a war

Says THEY are the problem

Says this war is more important then any one person .. more important then any one party

What is as stake is the survival of our country

Even with OBL alive, we need to point out the idiocy of the Democrats' position on this. To say the entire U.S. military needs to be dedicated to finding one individual is incredibly stupid. One lucky bomb hit buries the guy in a cave and our forces spend the next couple of years looking for a dead man while Al Qaida grows around the world. It's a problem in Europe, Asia, and especially Africa. To say that everything stops until OBL is dead is just absurd. We need to call them on that.

Funny coming from the NR blog who have been trumpeting the abject failure of the administration in Iraq.

The speech was political. The sky is blue. Agreement is a fine thing.

Agree .. but it's because the dems in congress want to micro manage the war

as close as a President can get to a declaration of war

But it's not a Declaration of War. If it is over quickly, then it works. But if it goes on through an election cycle some will take advantage. They could have had a Declaration of War. Mistake not to.

Well, I probably shouldn't mention this on an open forum, but check this out. Murtha/Irey polls
