Without knowing more, I can't get too excited about this.

What exactly is the profanity? Is it "Oh Sh*t", or the f word? Even if it's the F word, there are times that can be appropriate.

Example: "The f**king ragheads who did this need to pay"

What bothers me the most is when they take the Lord's name in vain. Now that's a diferent story altogether, there.

when they have a reality show that shows partial nudity and sex scenes they don't censor it. when they apout the gay agenda and show madonna kissing brittany (or whatever), they're right proud.

but they'll lok for any excuse not to carry something like the story of 9-11 because it has a bad word in it.

Watch ABC's Path to 9/11 instead as touted by Rush.

I don't watch network tv at all. I was just commenting on Wildmon's work, which for the most part in past times I really appreciate.

I see nothing wrong with beeping out f-ing this

I draw the line with what A&E did to Repo Man. "Flip you, melonfarmer" just doesn't sound bombastic enough.

I'm a charter member of Save Our Bombast. I know a lot of other SOBs ;-)

Context does matter. I've seen instances of the use of profanity or vulgarity in programs that could have been completely avoided. But does anyone believe that the people who were there going through hell on 9/11 were yelling out "Oh, shucks"?

This writer's brushing aside of the context issue by using the example of CBS airing an after-school special including pornography is ludicrous. Even CBS isn't that degenerate.

This is the documentry by two French men who were the only camera crew at the WTC that morning; it's filmed as it happened.

It's must see TV and doesn't need "clean airwaves" to show it.

Is this the documentary done by the Frenchmen?

Yes, it is the French documentary.

I agree, it is an amazing piece, and a must-see.

I think it was first aired on TV sometime around March of 2002. Funny, I don't remember people getting all upset about the cussing then. I do remember plenty of warnings that the network (can't remember which one) gave prior to and during the documentary regarding the coarse language.

This is one of the more offensive posts I've seen on FR in a while. I had to check to make sure you weren't a troll. Ok, so you're not the typical troll... but you have issues.

It was filmed WHILE it was happening, with the REAL people. It is in no way shape or form a "docu-drama."

A growing number of CBS affiliates have publicly stated that they would not carry the program.

Which has nothing to do with their fear of being fined by the FCC ... and has everything to do with the Stain® and his minions wanting as few people as possible to watch this program because it exposes their complicity in the run up to 9-11.

IMHO

Yes, it is. It was an excellent program.

Notice they're fixated on the profanity and NOT the showing of people jumping to their deaths.

Fine! I am not going to watch network TV anyway, except for the NASCAR race.

Contact your local CBS affiliate" and ask them not to air "9/11." Tell them you are prepared to file a formal complaint with the FCC if they do.

I'll disregard this advice, as I do just about anything by people like Wildmon. It's sad that the small number of complaints mustered by people like this have an effect on what I get to watch.

The solution to this is show it and just bleep the profanity.

Send the email to the FCC asking them to reject the "in context" argument.

F*** That!!!!

Wow - I actually rejected a phone call last week asking me to declare I've "join the protest" against profanity on TV. They may have just as well been fundraising for the DNC.

Now I see clearly why they were suddenly freaking out at profanity on TV... freeekin bozos.

9/11 was the obscenity, not the language used by those who experienced it. There are bad acts and bad intentions in this world. Words are just words. One would have thought that what happened 5 years ago forced a lot of people to grow up. Apparently the lesson was lost on some.

Where were these people when NBC or whoever it was aired Schindler's List, complete with profanity, violence, and full frontal nudity?

I don't understand the problem. When this documentary became available on DVD I rushed right out to get it. It is the most real historical record of 9-11 that there is, and I wanted to have a copy of my own to keep forever.
