...."Fifteen posts to get to someone who didn't get the word.

Smith and Wesson is no longer the company who made the deal with clintoons. They are gone. They fled back to England.

Smith and Wesson is now an American owned and operated company. They have nothing and I repeat, nothing to do with the clintoon agreement"....

Hogwash!!

S&W may be under new ownership. But when you purchase a business you assume the assests AND THE LIABILITIES of said business! One of the liabilities that the new owners assumed was the 2000 Clinton gun control agreement. And one of the things that the company will forever have to live down is their betrayal of the American shooting public and the 2A, no matter who now happens to own the company. The company is still named Smith & Wesson right?? If the new owners don't like this they should have perhaps been a little more discriminating about the business that they chose to purchase. To put it another way, do you think you could purchase Enron and have a sparkling clear reputation because "there is new ownership"?

You are free to deal with any company you like. I, like most shooters I know, choose NOT to deal with S&W. S&W doesn't like it? Tough! I didn't like their company (the SAME S&W) attempting to sell out my second amendment rights!

For my money, the 1911 .45 design has never been equalled or exceeded in elegance, utility or performance. IMO, it's the best, bar none. Newfangled stuff - bah!

So why do you own a Ruger?
Why did you mention Colt?
I wonder how many Chinese SKS's you own.

Its basically the same trigger as the Glock..the "safe action."

A consistent five or six lb crisp pull that has no creep and is always the same, every time you pull the trigger.

Elegant, yet understated.

Enjoy.

S&W could do wonders for its credibility by renouncing the Clinton era agreement. While the ownership has changed and they've said the company's past actions were a mistake, they've never "renounced" the agreement with the Clintons. They should do that.

It's a nice handgun, I know a few fellows who are competing in IDPA with them.

Not my particular cup of tea because of the magazine disconnect. It's a pain in the ass to clear the weapon, and, in a combat situation, if I have a round in the chamber and accidentally drop the mag, I'd like to be able to still fire the weapon.

Exactly. I think that it might go a long way toward softening some of the bitter feelings that still remain.

Shooter 2.5

As I said above, you are free to deal with whatever company you choose. But I am also free to do the same.

There's no one to renounce it to. That administartion was voted out of office.

Smith and Wesson is ignoring the agreement and the Bush administration is doing the same.
I guess you want to boycott the Republicans who ignored the Assault Weapons Ban too?

Yes you are. Foreign manufactures and a couple American ones who also caved to the political realities back then.

Putting another American gun company out of business doesn't help us. I wonder if you ever bought a Winchester?

I like old S&W's revolvers. I own several and wouldn't mind owning a few more. I didn't like S&W's British parents' deal with the Clintons.
If the new owners of S&W want to renounce the former's Clinton connection, that would be a good thing. What's your problem with that ?
