"having begun in Vermont"

Coolidge also got his start in Vermont.

Funny how such a once great republican state is now the hippy-commune of New England.

The Coolidge home in Plymoth Notch, Vt. is worth a visit. There, one can visit the room where Coolidge was sworn in as president by his father, a notary public.

Vermont and Maine were the only states that the Republicans carried in the 1936 presidential election. However, the Green Mountain State seems to have been colonized by immigrants from Grennwich Village.
