A federal investigation has been launched into the financial dealings of New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez and a nonprofit agency he has helped over the years, sources said.

The U.S. attorney's office has subpoenaed the agency's records pertaining to a house once owned by then-congressman Menendez, sources told NewsChannel 4's Brian Thompson.

Menendez, a Democrat, has denied there was anything wrong with his renting the house to the North Hudson Community Action Corp. for more than $3,000 a month, even as he was working to obtain millions of dollars in federal grant money while he was a congressman

If you are any kind of conservative, you won't sit around and watch while Harry Reid takes control of the Senate.

Hey, I might believe these charges if it was any state other than New Jersey. (Sarc.)

Word is that Poritz is not going there again. She brought so much disgrace to the Court with her finding on the Toricelli swap that she's let it be known that won't happen again. She is retiring and doesn't want that to be her final major decision.

Frankly, the entire NJ government is ready for the junk heap.

I'm hopeful on that count. To be honest, I'm not surprised at all that Menendez got caught in this scandal. What surprises me is that Governor-elect Corzine didn't see it coming ahead of time and appoint someone else.

Corzine is not in charge at all. The powers that be decide who will be chosen. Wonder if he ever regrets leaving the senate for this crappy job. He's bought his way to the office, but cannot buy the power he craves.

He was stuck with Zulima Farber, the UMDNJ, and now Menendunce.

He has loser written all over himself, no matter how much money he has.

Goldman Sachs kicked him out and the delicious irony is that the man who got him out of GS is now the Treasury Secretary of the United States and Corzine is a dirty word to most folks here in NJ.
