"Why this POS is still breathing air is a disgrace. We need a shoot on sight order. He killed a cop!"
Not only that, he shot THREE State Police Officers. TWO OF THEM FROM BEHIND. Then he surrenders when he is surrounded and he realizes his only other option is a shootout that he WILL lose.
POS? Yep. And a coward. A yellow coward.
I was sorry to hear he was captured alive.
Good news is the SP says they are going to be arresting those who helped him while he was scurrying around like the vermin he is. I am not a lawyer, but it seems reasonable to me that anyone who helped hide this piece of debris is at least partially responsible for the murder of the SP officer who was killed.

They are just as responsible as the perp.I think they need the testimony of the enablers to convict him.It leads me to believe the people in charge of prosecuting him,are sloths, looking for an easy verdict.I misread the first part of your post and I apologize. You are right as far as the enablers are concerned. They need to understand that their actions, countermanded the severity of the situation. As far as NY gun laws are concerned,I would have shot him on sight.I would take my chances in the court.Chances in NY are not that good, but I would feel better!
