WAUKESHA, WI(AP) -- A former Pewaukee alderman convicted of sexually assaulting two children faces 45 years in prison.
Anthony Balistreri, 42, was sentenced Friday by Waukesha County Circuit Judge Donald Hassin Jr.
The judge noted Balistreri will be 87 when he becomes eligible for release. He said the former alderman showed "the very worst in human behavior," except for cases in which a life is taken.
Balistreri maintained his innocence, reading a statement that told of his life and portrayed himself as a good citizen and loving stepfather to the two children he was convicted of sexually assaulting.
He said he would always consider the two - a man now 18 and a girl now 17 - as his children.
He also told the judge he knew he was about to get the equivalent of a death sentence behind the "hellish walls" of prison.
A jury in Jefferson County Circuit Court convicted Balistreri in July of 19 of the 20 felony charges against him, including first-degree sexual assault of a child, second-degree sexual assault of a child, repeated sexual assaults of the same child and multiple counts of possessing child pornography.
At the trial, the 18-year-old said Balistreri had given him alcohol, exposed him to pornography and ultimately sexually assaulted him.
The 17-year-old said Balistreri provided her with alcohol and pills, encouraged her to have sex with boys when she was 13, exposed her to pornography, took nude photos of her and sexually assaulted her over a period of years.
Wonder what they'll always consider him?
And, as always, I am compelled to add: Where the HELL was their Mother all those years? You can't TELL that something is up with your children? No drop in grades in school? No sudden weeping for no reason? It absolutely SICKENS me that women turn a blind eye to this kind of perversion and SACRIFICE their children just to keep a man in their beds!
She deserves equal punishment, IMNSHO.
and if this pos lives to be 87, he will be released from prison and a month later be arrested for the same crime.
"...if this pos lives to be 87..."
One can only hope not.
