U.S. Schools Compete for Saudi Students

By GARANCE BURKE : Associated Press Writer Sep 9, 2006 : 2:29 am ET

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Thousands of students from Saudi Arabia are enrolling on college campuses across the United States this semester under a new educational exchange program brokered by President Bush and Saudi King Abdullah.

The program will quintuple the number of Saudi students and scholars here by the academic year's end. And big, public universities from Florida to the Kansas plains are in a fierce competition for their tuition dollars.

The kingdom's royal family -- which is paying full scholarships for most of the 15,000 students -- says the program will help stem unrest at home by schooling the country's brightest in the American tradition. The U.S. State Department sees the exchange as a way to build ties with future Saudi leaders and young scholars at a time of unsteady relations with the Muslim world.

As much as I like him I'm beginning to think W has been inside the beltway too long. It seems to happen to almost everyone no matter how strong they start out.

Fellow Freepers if you don't like your alma mater's being so enthusiastic for Saudi students tell your schools & alumni associations that your donations will be going elsewhere !

I ran across this site www.islamicfinder.org that someone posted on freerepublic.

I put in my zip and there are like THREE Muzzie orgs within 30 miles!

That was news to me!

Anyway I was reading one of their websites and sent them an email (from my anonymous account of course!) responding to some of their posted material:

"Americans seem shocked that anyone would not love America”

I would disagree. I would say that "Americans are shocked that anyone who dislikes America would choose to live here."

I would remind the devote practitioners of Islam that there are many places where people with similar feelings are. And I'd suggest that they move there!

I recently did exactly that coming from the Bay Area to Colorado Springs because I found that people here think much more like I do.

As a free county no one is forcing devote Muslims to remain in America.

I am much happier now that I am around people who think like I do!

You should try it and suggest it to all you know who feel that way!

A take off from the Lending Tree commercial:

Well, this technique has worked throughout Europe, Australia, The Philippines. (Sarc.)

Exchange programs tend to make Students more pro-American and democratic thinking, and also generally more open-minded. I think this is a good idea.

Your thesis is highly debatable and I believe incorrect. A large number of 9/11 killers were legally here as students. Your theory sure worked on them.

You don't think they're recruiting hardcore nutcases to apply to these programs?

These campuses are a perfect place for Americans to send the message that towelheads are not welcome here. The raghead students should be ostracized, excluded, and generally shunned, right up to the point of physical violence.

They are vermin. They come from a verminous, treacherous rathole of a country. And they will some day return to that cesspool and carry the message that Americans hate Muslims. If we're lucky, that message will permeate the Middle East until every Muslim that sees a buzzard's shadow will think it's the Great Satan come to set accounts straight.

Instead, under the pernicious influence of political correctness, we will welcome this desert trash into our universities and educate them in better ways to betray us.

A western education did wonders for Mohammad Atta.

it sure changed his point of view.

Simple. By excluding the superset, you exclude all the subsets. Do not, under any circumstances, let Saudis, Yemenis, Syrians, Palestinians, Egyptians, Iranians, etc. into this country. Period.

Jordanians, Lebanese, Iraqis ... may be allowed entry, but only under tight supervision. Violation of any of the regulations and they are expelled immediately and permanently. Get a parking ticket and you're on your way home, Abdul.

We owe these animals nothing.

Let's see how that logic works.

Humm... they are going to Leftist Universities and the left is anti-American.

Forgive me if I don't see how that will work out in our favor!

Mohammad Atta went to a German university. This is an insane idea.

If the program was actually a "we'll spy on them and follow any
that go bad back to some master-minds", I'd say "Go for it!"

But I'm afraid that if just 1% of them go radical while here in the USA,
we'll just have have 150 more copies of Islamic icon Qutb.
