Democrats have a unique responsibility not just to oppose what has failed but to propose a new course that can defeat jihadist terrorism once and for all.

Brothers and sisters, let us rejoice! Brother Kerry has admitted that neither he, nor any of his Democrat colleagues has (until this latest epiphany) proposed a meaningful alternative to President Bush's course of action in Iraq. Any Democrat/Left-Wing radical who embraces his plan must (in all intellectual honestly) acknowledge that they have been doing nothing but mindlessly griping over the past three + years (which is why I predict that not even Kerry's 2004 running mate, will embrace this plan).

Five years after 9/11, we've overthrown two dictatorships, killed dozens of Al Qaeda leaders and pushed the rest into hiding. We've kept them far from the shores of America. But should we decide to follow Kerry's advice to retreat, Al Qaeda will rebuild itself and mount increasingly lethal attacks on the American homeland. In deference to world opinion, the American Left, led by the Democrats, will demand we not retaliate. They will prosecute terrorism as a criminal justice issue. And do nothing until a nuclear bomb explodes in one of our cities. Then too late, we will confront "the day that changed everything" at last. That is guaranteed if we hand the country over to Kerry and the people around him. It is also utterly unthinkable.

Someone tell Kerry that the high rises in Boston are still standing. It is safer to work on the top floor of the Hancock building than it is to drive to Logan airport. Kerry's statement is sophomoric twaddle. Then again, that is the best he can do.

"i think the part that is MOST laughable about this article is his uh-hum to reducing dependence on foreign oil."

What Johnny pickle does not want you to know is that "reducing dependence on foreign oil" means less gasoline, home heating oil etc. for you and me through rationing. There will however be enough fuel for Theresa's Gulf Stream.

See how it works in his world?

More evidence of John F'n Kerry's inconsistent flip-floppin' BS from Ann Coulter.

I was trying to post my thoughts and couldn't quite get it on paper. You pretty much did it for me. I am so sick of the Dem Losers throwing out all of these broad, magnaminous solutions. Never a word is said about HOW to accomplish the feat. While they're at it, I want them to:

Eliminate hunger and pain and suffering

Attain a lasting World Peace

Get rid of taxes

Blah, Blah, Blah, NO plan, just grandiose ambitions. It's like asking a kindergartener "What do you want to be when you grow up?".

Had Clinton or Gore been in the White House on 911, we would have gotten a really, really stiff resolution from the UN. The international community would have risen as one -- well, maybe two-thirds of it -- to "regret" the attacks. Perhaps even "deplore" them. And Kofi would have vowed never to rest until he caught the killers.

Clinton and/or Gore would have attended every funeral, cried copiously for the cameras, and that would have been the end of the U.S. response.

I was reading Men's Journal yesterday about a profile on Richard Pombo, the House Natural Resources Committee Chairman and he had a memorable take on the Left's energy policy: he observed they say "NO" to all forms of energy. Note that Kerry doesn't spell out how he would reduce America's reliance on imported foreign oil. The Left knows only how to obstruct but they can't offer solutions to America's problems because they can't conceive of things getting better.

^^^There are many things we can and must do better, but there are five steps to start: Redeploy from Iraq, recommit to Afghanistan, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, reform our homeland defense and restore America’s moral leadership in the world.^^^

Well, FINALLY, we find out what Kerry meant in the 2004 debates when he kept saying, "*I* have a plan."

"Redeploy from Iraq." And leave the people there to be massacred the way we did in Viet Nam when we deserted them just when we were winning.

"Recommit to Afghanistan." And listen to you Dems screaming, "Bring our troops home NOW."

"Reduce our dependence on foreign oil." So, tell me, John why do you libs keep preventing us from doing just that?

"Reform our homeland defense." Oh, so you're going to let us profile terrorists? Hey, I'd like to see you come out in favor of that.

"Restore America’s moral leadership in the world." How about starting with NO gay marriages, NO abortions, NO raising taxes?

See how it works in his world?

exactly.

it's like that mtv show "trippin'" where the VERY BRIGHT movie stars fly with a camera crew in their jets over to places like africa for 4 hours to laud the natives (who stand in the background with mouths open looking like roadkill and can only IMAGINE what the movie star's BIDET looks like) by gushing praise for the native "natural" way of life of no running water and only huts to live in, then teeter giddily in their strappy hot pink 500$ manolo blaniks back to the awaiting jet to carry them back to their mansions in the hills which will be featured in the next architect's digest.

yeah, right. if you're a narcissist, you are automatically excluded from having to follow all the rules you want everyone else to follow so YOU won't be inconvenienced.

but, hey, everyone thinks you CARE and that's all that matters.

I think you added excellent points to this discussion.

Your frustration over the 'politics' the dims are playing with this deadly serious global struggle is shared by regular patriotic Americans.

Let's bring back the patriotic practice of "politics ending at the water's edge".

Where are America's statesmen?

It's like asking a kindergartener "What do you want to be when you grow up?".

and, in reality, it really doesn't do the repubs any good either, having the other party so out of balance and so many nuts out there saying 9/11 was a government plot.

the whole attitude of the democratic party is pretty much insane, at this point, in order to defeat the repubs through undermining the war effort. it is irresponsible and treasonous.

but the repubs need a party of reasoned opposition to counterbalance them. look how out of control and out of touch the repubs are with immigration.

it's all a game, who can get the most votes.obviously that's pretty much politics but i think the repubs figure they have put their necks out on the line for the war on terror, and immigration is a step too far for them...they are playing politics, to the hazard of betraying this country. THAT we don't need. the issue is too important.

"We must remember the great lesson of the Cold War when we led the world to confront a common threat.

Oh yeah. Right, Johnny Boy. You are now and always have been one who "believed" the "Cold War" was a "real" threat just as you now believe that Islamofacis is a "real" threat.

congrecord

LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALS RELATING TO THE WAR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA
THURSDAY, APRIL 22, 1971

UNITED STATES SENATE;
COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN RELATIONS,
Washington, D.C.

Kerry:"At any time that an actual threat is posed to this country or to the security and freedom I will be one of the first people to pick up a gun and defend it, but right now we are reacting with paranoia to this question of peace and the people taking over the world. I think if we are ever going to get down to the question of dropping those bombs most of us in my generation simply don't want to be alive afterwards because of the kind of world that it would be with mutations and the genetic probabilities of freaks and everything else.

Therefore, I think it is ridiculous to assume we have to play this power game based on total warfare. I think there will be guerrilla wars and I think we must have a capability to fight those.

And we may have to fight them somewhere based on legitimate threats, but we must learn, in this country, how to define those threats and that is what I would say to this question of world peace. I think it is bogus, totally artificial. There is no threat. The Communists are not about to take over our McDonald hamburger stands." [Laughter.]
