"“I do hope that people out there who are genuine conservatives think about the consequences,’’ Jeffries said. “It’s one thing to decide you’re not happy with the Republicans, but it’s another thing to let the Democrats take power.’’

Well, then they should have done what they said they would do.

They've taken conservatives for granted and they've soured the base.

Why be enthused about supporting idiots? At least next time around the true conservative will be the only differing choice between a liberal, a RINO, & a principled conservative.

Screw RINOs. They aren't better than liberals.

They are liberals, having infiltrated our party.

VERY IMPORTANT: If the Republicans lose the Senate, then the Dems will have control of the judiciary committee, and won't allow President Bush's judicial nominees to go to the floor for an up or down vote.

Republicans must vote in November, and don't forget to vote in the primaries for conservatives.

Yes, the Republican-led Congress has failed to plug the leaks in the nation’s borders. Yes, federal spending is out of control, despite pledges by Republican leaders to temper it. And, yes, Congress has failed to pass key social measures once thought all but assured, considering Congress and the White House are in Republican hands.

And yes, I should support these clowns because, after all, having the Democrats in control would be much worse.

There’s a growing number of us who are beginning to feel like it might be better to lose on the right principles than to win on the wrong ones,’’ Schenk said.

I simply cannot figure out why people think losing is a good thing. How will losing advance their cause? Sounds to me that Schenk and the crybaby conservatives are just tired of fighting and want to go home and pout. Too bad for our country that the leftist never tire of fighting to advance their agenda.

Despite the fact I am unhappy with the Republicans on immigration and out of control federal spending I am still going to vote for them and be active in 2006. We are at war and turning over power to the defeatist cut and run democrats would cost human lives.

I still get my voice out to the Republicans when they contact me to raise funds and vent at them about their shortcomings....but they are still better than the alternative. You just have to be pragmatic about this issue and look at the whole picture and still vote Republican for national security is at stake.

Concerned that disillusionment among conservatives may keep them home on Election Day

Three weeks left in session before they recess for the elections, NOW they've decided to listen to their base voters.

My suggestion to Republicans is that they may want to talk and dance with those that brought them to the dance, a bit before last call at the bar.

I'll undoubtedly vote, especially if they get border security passed and signed before the elections, but they better get busy getting conservative ideas into law or I think they may be out in the wilderness for another forty years.

I am one of those disgruntled conservatives, more on the social conservative side. And to be blunt I want to see a little more out of the republicans than waving the Democrat/Hillary boogieman around everytime conservatives start demanding a little action from the people they elected.
We busted ass and turned out in droves to get them elected, and watched the corporate conservatives get all their agenda rammed through the house. Yet somehow things we wanted all ended up getting hamstrung, blocked by procedural moves, etc.... funny how that happens.
The way I see it.. the Republicans still have three weeks left in the current session. Lets see them earn my vote.

"But Jeffries, the editor of Human Events, a respected conservative newsweekly, also wants readers to realize those frustrations will seem piddling if Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the strident Democratic leader from California, becomes speaker of the House after November’s elections."

It's such a sad day when Republicans have to resort to the stupid "If you're think WE'RE bad... look at the competition", mantra.

Sickening. How about addressing the problems you've mentioned instead of just acknowledging them.

...urging Republican congressional leaders to assuage their conservative base in the few weeks left...

Campaign Memo from Karl Rove:
O.K. guys, time to engage yourselves in our "Plantation Strategy" we learned from the Democrats. Get out there and throw those ignorant, Red Neck, Conservatives a bone, but just enough to keep them on the plantation until after the election. If you need to get in touch with me call the Rhode Island number. Lizzie Dole and I will be up there in bed with Lincoln Chafee."

Yours for a kinder, gentler GOP,
Karl

But Jeffries, the editor of Human Events, a respected conservative newsweekly, also wants readers to realize those frustrations will seem piddling if Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the strident Democratic leader from California, becomes speaker of the House after November’s elections.

Oh, so conservatives are supposed to blind vote Republican again and think that is going to solve anything? How many times does the less-of-two-evil strategy have to fail before it sinks through certain people's skulls that it does work?

There is no chance for ANY significant changes in this nation with a CONSERVATIVE majority in Congress and a conservative in the White House. The biggest obstacle to that objective is RINO and liberal Republicans. Until they are eliminated, there will be no significant changes in the nation.

If conservatives keep rewarding Republicans that compromise, why would the Republican party ever stop compromising? They won't if they know conservatives are dumb enough to vote for them no matter how much they spend and no matter what kind of pseudo-amnesty legislation they attempt to passs.

Conservatives MUST vote for conservatives and let the RINOs die on the vine -- even if that means allowing Democrats to temporarily take the a seat.

Who cares of Nancy Pelosi is speaker for two years if in 2008 conservative Republicans end up having a working majority in the House? A little gridlock would do wonders for Federal spending and make the Republican party realize it must putforth conservative candidates.

While it's no secret around here that I've had plenty of criticism for many Republican leaders, I agree with Terry Jeffrey. He is one of the few DC-based people I trust to consistently stay true to conservative ideals.

If people are disgusted with a particular GOP nominee, just ignore them (like the RINOs have done to conservatives for years) and use your resources of money, time and energy to help any of the hundreds of great conservative candidates that are running as Republicans all over America.
