Remarkably, though, the day-to-day lives of most Americans have changed very little. We have found it easy, perhaps startlingly easy, to stick to routines and habits and mind-sets forged before we could have conceived of planes as missiles. Last month, the Pew Research Center polled about 1,500 adults across the country. More than 40% said the terrorist attacks had not changed their personal lives at all. And 36% said their lives had been altered "only a little bit."
Sept. 11 is often compared to another day of infamy, Japan's bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Historians, however, see no comparison. World War II demanded personal sacrifice from every American family. The global war on terrorism has touched only a few directly, even as the threat level bounces from orange to yellow to orange to red.
"Many of the predictions made five years ago by cultural pundits about positive long-term changes on our behavior, on our attitudes, even on the art we make, have proved largely untrue," says novelist Julia Glass, who won a National Book Award for "Three Junes."

I'm altered.
What sort of shifts in our day-to-day habits and patterns would anyone expect a great national tragedy to make? And is that really a reliable index of "change"?
Fish. Barrel..
Why would anyone care what a novelist thinks about geopolitics, etc..?
"Few Lives Changed"
You know, in a lot of ways, that's a victory for us, in much the same way the English can claim victory for their response to the London bombings.
The bad guys did their darndest, we just sucked it up and pressed on.
Well, just a bit off topic.
I know one guy whose life has been changed forever since 9/11.
ZARQAWI.
He's dead.

And, on the other hand (from Newsmax)...............
"Al-Qaida marked the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11 by posting video footage of Osama bin Laden exhorting the attackers to be patient in their preparations and to steel themselves for "martyrdom"".
Quite a difference.
Be well............ Americans.
I love You too bro.

"Unwavering Spirit: Hope & Healing at Ground Zero"
When St. Paul's Chapel was completed in 1766, it stood in a field some distance from the growing port city to the south. It was built as a "chapel-of-ease" for parishioners who lived far from the primary, or "Mother," church. Today, St. Paul's Chapel is Manhattan's oldest public building in continuous use, and its remaining colonial church.
After the attack on September 11, 2001, which led to the collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, St. Paul's Chapel served as a place of rest and refuge for recovery workers at the WTC site.
For eight months, hundreds of volunteers worked 12 hour shifts around the clock, serving meals, making beds, counseling and praying with fire fighters, construction workers, police and others. Massage therapists, chiropractors, podiatrists and musicians also tended to their needs.
Unwavering Spirit, a new interactive exhibit, honors that ministry and its legacy of love and compassion.
Thank You for a cup half full to a day never to be .....
I have one tool not much but I Pray the Rosary.
Ya'll can do what you choose but I have faith and pray the Rosary.
Thank you, Mr. Bush.
Nuff said.
Riiiiiiiiight. Few lives changed.
But everyone's lives are changed by alleged "global warming." According to this crowd.
Remind me - why does anyone even pretend to take the MSM seriously?
It changed my life,
I have a hate I never knew was possible...it's not a consumming hate . Its one that has bred resolve and shown me that I do have the ability to do whats necessary.
The islamofascist taught me one thing about myself. I do have the capacity to look upon other "humans" and compartmentalize the fact that they are human. Because if it comes down to us or them.....believe me I don't care what measure is used to eliminate them.
I haven't and won't forget.
It definately separated the patriots from the appeasers.
If "the day-to-day lives of most Americans have changed very little", you can thank George W. Bush and the astounding and magnificant heroes and heroines of the United States armed forces, because al-Qaeda have certainly intended to change the lives of ALL Americans for the past five years - to TERMINATED.
