No...Club For Growth is NO liberal group!
When the candidates are only a few percentage points away from each other, sure, your logic works just fine.
Once you hit about 10% on up, things can't normally be screwed up that much....
Like with Florida, as much as I'd like to believe that Katherine Harris won't lose by 40%, there's no way in hell she's anywhere near even 20% behind Nelson at the moment.
I'm waiting on new polling, but I don't exactly expect much improvement.
You have a point, but if we abuse him and tick him off, he is more likely to leave.
I would think it would be better to allow viruperation to find its natural home in the Democratic Party.
Oh, rats, my finger missed the 't'.
Make that 'vituperation'.
In 2002 Jim Douglas, GOP candidate for Vermont governor, polled 10 points behind the Dem, Doug Racine, on the Sunday before election day. Since Vermont has been trending Democrat since the early 90's, most pundits thought Racine had it in the bag. Racine got smug and let up on his campaigning. Douglas won the election by 6 points. Polling techniques are subject to human folly, error, and bias. Chafee is more trouble than he is worth, but he will vote GOP to organize the Senate. He will not besmirch the memory of his father, John Chafee, who was also a liberal GOP but loyal (a US Marine). Laffey is a sure loser to the more liberal Whitehouse.
Sad when the only good thing you can say about a RINO is that he voted for cloture. That's almost like a Catholic priest being a "reliable" vote against abortion.
"Liberal Republican or a liberal Democrat".
So the people who will vote for him in the primary are going to stay home in November? I don't think so. I think Laffey will take it down the wire or even pull an upset. Keep in mind that voters like candidates who are straightforward and offer a clear agenda. Nobody likes squishies, and that's the main reason why Chafee's in trouble. He's hated by the Right and liberals will always choose the Dim over the liberal Republican. If Laffey's the nominee you can bet the grassroots in RI will get behind him.
More gloom-and-doom.
You guys are smoking crack if you think Chafee will side with the GOP if he wins.
This guy openly bragged about not voting for Bush and has voted against all of his policies. Chafee needs to lose, period.
Actually, chaffee did vote for bush, George H. Bush in 2004 on a write in vote.
(Some of my amature art work..lol)
It's true though..there's something about the guy...He's a winner...1)He rocked the debate and 2) I was reading an article and it struck me how people in RI said they were going to vote for him -- despite the fact that they disagreed with him on some issues.
BITE ME CHAFEE
Lots of opportunities in Montana.
Chafee is not a RINO he is a MOLE...
That's my feeling too.
Chafee ain't good for much - but he does give us a GOP majority.
Will you be running a Rhode Island primary thread Tuesday night? :o)
Chances are, someone will beat me to it.
Oh, well.
Well, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I agree. This is either a liberal Democrat or a liberal Republican. I'll take the Republican.
We'll know soon as to whether we have a shot or we have Laffey.
