"Don't tell me he's still here...."
In terms of responding, I tend to stick to one thread at a time and try to avoid jumping around with my comments. But I do monitor Canadian threads and I do find them interesting. I try to avoid all threads dealing with the war (Terror, Iraq and Afghanistan). It is my way of saying I think it is wrong for people to politicize the war. I have had a few slips and made comments on the war and regretted it every time.
Anyway I am delighted to see that you all missed me. I have been preoccupied with a wonderful thread on the ethical and sexual issues of giving the HPV vaccine to grade six students.
I still don't know if the Mounties got married? Was it on TV? What happened when the Minister said that the groom could kiss the bride?

verb (used without object) 2. to engage in or discuss politics.
You think politics has no place in war? War is politics, politics is war.
Exactly what is it you like about FR?

"You think politics has no place in war? War is politics, politics is war."
Fair question. I don't have any difficulty with most FR discussion on the war. I despise the fact when people (especially politicians) make the war a political football merely to gain popularity points for them self. When people do that they take the focus off the troops and the sacrifice they and their families are called to make.
I will probably deny saying this at some point in the future so don't hold me to it, but, from what I have seen, including here on FR threads, I think Prime Minister Harper may be the very best at refusing to be drawn into politicizing or trivializing Canadian participation in the war on terror. In addition, the article written by Joe Warmington on the sacrifice of soldiers and their families may be the most moving piece I have read in a long time. My wife sent it to all our kids.
I wish I could be more profound or insightful. The truth is I am intimidated by your question. I want to do it justice but I really don't know how. On September 11 I saw President Bush break down and weep in a Pennsylvania field. That moment said more to me about strength of character than a thousand political speeches.
