Terrorist Hiroshima in America?
http://globalpolitician.com/articledes.asp?ID=2143&cid=11&sid=61 ^ | 9/11/06 | Ryan Mauro

In 2005, the mainstream media seemed shocked when a number of news sources, including WorldNetDaily.com released a report about an "American Hiroshima" plot against the United States by Al-Qaeda The plot calls for Al-Qaeda to detonate nuclear weapons on American soil, having arrived over the Mexican border with the assistance of MS-13 gang members. The report claims Al-Qaeda has already obtained a large number of nuclear weapons currently being maintained by Pakistani and Russian scientists.

Why the shock? In November 2002, this author provided similar and nearly identical information to the American public and intelligence agencies compiled from private and open-sources. The result was a research project of an enormous size, summarily published on this site with the entire version published on WorldThreats.com. Thus, we were quite surprised when this report rocked and shocked the mainstream media over two years after we had already published the same information.

Our original report, entitled "Exposing the Next Wave of Spectacular Terrorism: Terrorist Possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction" seems antiquated as it had been tailored to the address the concerns at the onset of Operation Iraqi Freedom, including the possibility of retaliatory terrorist attacks. Although there were several subsequent updates, we have re-compiled our information, now over two years old, to illustrate we sounded this alarm bell in 2002.

But perhaps the Iranian leadership wants to survive intact and prevail so they can enjoy seeing Israel and the West "bow down in submission" in this life and not the next.

That's why they have all those caves and bunkers, just like the Soviet leadership had. *They* are going to survive, even if not many of those they "lead" do. What a few million martyrs against the return of the 13th Imam?

explosives and electrical components that don't fare very well when constantly exposed to neutrons and gamma rays

True statement. Only a very slight change in the physics package is necessary for a nuclear chain reaction to not occur. A nuclear weapon is a highly complex machine and a lot has to go right for a nuclear reaction to occur. Otherwise you get a localized explosion with fissile material spread over a relatively small area.

Nope. A Japanese feminine deodorant spray.

"The ones most worrisome are those left over from clandestine Soviet infiltration of key locations in the continental US during the 1950s and early 60's."

And your evidence of the existence of these mythical weapons is what, exactly? Please provide source information.

(Nice screen name. I bet a few other freepers remember what that is.)

Do you really think there are old Commie nukes hidden in the USA. That would make a cool made-for-TV movie plot.

Actually they find one buried near NATO Command in Belgium. The article I read states they were supposed to ahve been buried in the country side, in several US states, to be later recovered, assembled and then planted in a US city, to then be used in destroying that city.

It'd make a good comedy:

"Vern, I wouldn't mess around with that there thing. It looks like it's got that ROOS-kie writin' on it. Maybe we oughta call the Sherriff."

"Cletus, you just hold muh beer and WATCH THIS!"

Lunev? You mean the wacko NewSmax guy? I see. Well, never mind. Between NewSmax and WhirledNutsDaily, we've just about got all the conspiracy nonsense covered.

Now I have to go check my tin foil hat for contamination. I'm sure there's something wrong with it. I keep reading these wierd messages on Free Republic.

Who finds one? For Pete's sake, you can't have a conspiracy theory without more detail than that.

The Muslim world will go with the winner.

Correction. The muslim world will pretend to go with the winner and then stab them in the back later.

My face is sure red.
Well, I just went back to find the source as you requested, and note that it is solely in WND and not anywhere else - so that's not a good source in my opinion.

I'll keep looking, but like you indicate, on reflection this seems quite low-to-zero probability.

Evaporating their cities isn't so easy when we can't clearly assign responsibility to a nation state.

My Fellow Americans:

Last Thursday our nation suffered yet another terrorist attack from the self-styled Islamic Fundamentalists who are part of a large, loose, confederation of groups attempting to impose their views on our society, and many others. This attack was far worse than all others combined. As your President I have decided on our response.

To Islamic Terrorists: You have badly misjudged the American people. You mistake our compassion for weakness, our love of life with fear. I intend to act in such as way, now as to clarify our resolve for all times. I also hope that we might help change a few other of your mistaken beliefs with our actions.

You believe your God wants you to wage this war. You believe your God is all powerful. He is not.

As of noon today I have ordered the complete destruction of the cities of Mecca and Medina. This event will take place at 5:00 AM tomorow. I urge all citizens of those cities to evacuate at least 100 miles immediately. Under no circumstance will I call this attack off. This attack is retribution, but also serves to demonstrate the falsity of your beliefs, the powerlessness of your god, and the fate of all who use this false belief as a basis for continuing attacks on our country.

God Bless America.

Never mind. So much nonsense gets posted here from WhirledNutsDaily that it's easy to make a mistake. I wasn't really getting on your case. I just like to know the source of things.

I cannot imagine that the Russians could have done that in the 1950's and 1960's. It wasn't happening. I just couldn't find the source on my own.

I think that's it in a nutshell. We've got a lot of dissent in this country about the war now, but if a nuke were to go off in country I have a feeling our fellow citizens wouldn't be quite so tolerant of the terrorists. And the terrorist leaders know, or suspect this. Sure, they have a bunch of idiots willing to die for allah, but I haven't observed too many of their leaders volunteering to meet those 72 virgins of their own.

A dirty bomb is like kissing your sister for an IslamoFascist. Seeing NYC go up in a great big fireball is the wet dream of these sickos - the fulfillment of their prophecies.

If 9/11 taught them anything, it was that when you strike a sleeping king, you better cut its head off in the first blow. Nukes would have likely taken us off the world economic and political stage for 10 years at least, and maybe would have done it permanently.

Look at the moral equivalency idiots (leftists) in our own country do on losing the WTC? Some have even argued that we deserved it because of all the 'enemies' we've been making abroad.

Nuking a couple of US cities would have eventually resulted in lefties and euroweenies saying, "Well, they lived by the sword (Hiroshima and Manhattan Project), so they died by the sword."

The thing about 'suitcase nukes' is that since they use subcritical masses of plutonium, then depend on a neutron source, which degrades rapidly.

Unless AQ can replace the neutron sources, or remachine the plutonium into a larger critical-mass bomb (which requires correctly designed shaped charges to compress even a critical mass, since otherwise the initial chain reaction blows it apart before substantial yield is achived--a plutonium 'gun bomb' is infeasible), stolen 'suitcase nukes' are useful only for making dirty bombs.
