Pennsylvania Gun Owners Rights In Jeopardy!
NRA-ILA ^ | September 12, 2006 | NRA-ILA

This month, all gun owners in Pennsylvania need to stand-up and be heard. Anti-gun legislators, led by Representative Dwight Evans (D-Philadelphia), are pushing new gun control measures in Harrisburg. Pointing to data from a recent Pennsylvania Democratic Party funded poll that indicates suburban residents are concerned about gun violence, Evans stated that "legislators should move beyond boundary lines and party labels to take action on gun control."

Gun-control legislation has been dead on arrival in Harrisburg for more than a decade because the balance of the General Assembly supports the rights of gun owners. However, if Representative Evans and his supporters are successful this could change overnight.

This fool Evans (Democrat, of course, out of Philadelphia) is trying to whip up support in the Pennsylvania State Legislature for new gun control measures, that if passed, would make criminals out of a lot of folks who responsibly and legally own semi-auto rifles. In nutshell, this is more of the "ban-all-guns-and-everyone-will-live-happily-ever-after" mentality that has given us such crime-free paradises as Washington, DC. I've already done my duty and written my state representative and senator telling them exactly what I think of this proposed legislation, specifically that it's a load of BS and that Evans and his crew of half-wits don't give a damn about us rural homeowners who would be left virtually defenseless if they had their way.

It would not be just rural, it would be urban and suburban as well. Citizens simply cannot count upon the police to protect them. Police serve as a deterrent, and arrive to mop up and hopefully track down the perpetrators AFTER the fact, but the victims remain victims.

Maybe it's a good thing he's proposed the legislation at this time, right before the mid-term elections. It should give PA gun owners an excellent incentive to go out and vote for the Pubbies, especially Rick Santorum.

Evans is getting ready to run for Mayor of Philly next year. Our city is less safe than Fallujah (well, parts of our city anyway) and the Dems have no cure but to take away guns. It won't work, Philly pols are always proposing this sort of thing, but he'll have an "I tried" message to bring to the mayoral race next year.

He sems to be off his meds. After all, the DemonRats usually try to lie about how they all support the Second Amendment and this guy comes around to show them all up. I think it's great that he made the proposal now.

Although the votes taken on the 26th are straw votes to get a sense of where the next session of the General Assembly will go, we shouldn't take this lightly.

After the pay raise fiasco, 30 reps decided not to run again and most of them were pro gun. Also, of the 15 incumbents lost in the primary, 13 were pro gun. So we have our work cut out for us.

Please make plans to join us at the Capitol on the 26th. Gun owners from around the State will be there to lobby the legislators and keep them in line.

For those in the Pittsburgh area, we will likely have a bus going down. I will post details as soon as they are available.

When big-city Democrats do this, the real purpose is to make their voting constituents feel safer -- by making middle-class city residents unable to defend themselves against the typical Democrat voter

Yep. Our Mayoral candidates all want to ban, or at least severely restrict, handguns in the city. State law trumps the city law, they cannot get around that. If we crack down on the criminals, the prisons get overcrowded, and our liberal judges let the criminals go...and the cycle repeats.

I'm too much of a city boy to move out to the 'burbs, but I am taking a gun class.
