Gas prices dropping are going to add a few more points.

It may seem amusing, but I do think that you will see President Bush getting a bounce in the approval rating category because of the declining gas prices. Similarly, I believe you will see the consumer confidence levels increase in the coming months as well. There is a nexus between the very tangible gas prices, the MSM's "sour mood of voter" explanation, and the approval of those in office.

Despite all the best efforts of hundreds of dedicated hard-working folk in the MSM... That's a great point. If not for that, he'd probably be in the 60s.
To: jmc1969
Contrasting his eloquent 911 speech to the nation with dingy Harry whining about being called unpatriotic is a stark contrast.

It's ELECTION SEASON, and Dem/Liberal LIES cannot just be flung out there in the nether now, without being challenged VIGOROUSLY!
Add in the many Dem lies that have finally been proven false recently, the 9/11 reminder that we really DO have enemies, TONY SNOW, and a few other items, and you see the beginnings of a trend...
Democrats have simply used every single dirty trick in the inventory, and NONE of it has worked!

It's obvious that many people are weary of the democrat/left
bashing. If it were effective the approval rating would be in the single digits.

Why repeat these polls? The Democrats are signed up under numerous names to vote in these on-line polls.

The Rasmussen Reports daily updates are based upon nightly telephone interviews It's not an on-line poll.

The real reason why there is an up-tick in the D-rats wacky protests to the President.
To: jmc1969
Ya know, I've never been asked my opinion regarding President Bush's job performance. I'm more than a bit suspicious of polls at this point. Statistics are so easily manipulated in a number of different ways.

If GWB keeps his mouth shut on amnesty for illegal immigrants, he will not lose the gains he is making on recent polls. Prior to the Dubai port deal, GWB was hoovering at 45 to 50 percent approval. News from Iraq was the only detractor to his poll numbers. Once he embraced Arab ownership of ports followed by amnesty for illegal immigrants, his numbers dropped below 45 percent, and as low as 38 percent. It stayed under 41 percent for a long time. Improving gas prices, his recent speeches on TV and in public about 9/11 and good economy is helping. Just stay away from the immigration issue.

Forty-five percent (45%) of American adults approve of the way that President Bush is performing his job. If this was a poll of 'likely voters,' the President's rating would be around 50%.
To: LesbianThespianGymnasticMidget
Gas prices dropping are going to add a few more points.
I'd think the falling gas prices are the primary reason for increasing voter satisfaction with the President and Congress, just as rising gas prices were the primary reason for voter resentment.
To: SoldierDad
If this 45% is accurate then he is down a mere 6 points from his reelection 22 months ago. Not too bad considering the lies and distortions in the media.

I believe that many times people will disapprove of the President's performance based on the current issues (especially when they lead off with questions about immigration, spending or the ports deal).
I get called quite often, I guess they have my number on speed dial, and sometimes it's fun to hear the available answers to push-poll questions. Usually you can choose between "great" job and "miserable failure."
