Actually what he said was rather: "I am sorry that you misunderstood what I was saying."
You are right, thanks for clearing that up.
CNN's website is shoutintg that he regrets the statement but issues no apology. Fox says that he regretful over the outrage and MSNBC states that he offers "sincere regrets" but comes short of apologizing.
Hopefully, he will NOT apologize for a statements which is pure fact.
