The base is eagerly waiting for someone to step up to the plate. If someone does they'll coast to the nomination.

Easton usually bites her tongue a lot when she's on the panel... you can tell she feels like she's in 'enemy-territory'. I think Krauthammer scares the hell out of her. Read her Globe columns and you clearly see the dual-personalities.

Another freeper on another thread thinks McCain will use this to leave the party and run as an Independent and split the party like Ross Perot.

If John McCain runs as an Independent, he takes more votes from the Democrat than from the Republican. The sooner John McCain declares as an Independent, the better.

Kristol is with Bush on the clarification to ARticle 3 and giving our CIA folks the legal cover to harshly interrogate the baddies. Says that McCain's position in going against the President on these trials is a BIG MISTAKE.

Thanks Bahbah.

Sorry for going (slightly) OT but the timmay show is over now and the news has come on with the "outrage" over the Pope's recitation of an ancient (but timely) document featured at the top of the show.

In a surprisingly objective report for NBC, reaction to what the Pope said illustrates EXACTLY his point - what has islam brought to the world but misery and strife?

Now the Pope is trying to moderate his speech and calm the waters. The more he tries, the more he empowers the insane position of his adversaries.

It is the same with Allen. Had he simply said "This fellow was in interloper and a disruptor and we were having some fun at his expense." that would have been the end of it. Oh yea - to the tiny-brained partisan hacks like timmay who would claim that "What you said was racist" Allen should have said, "You seem to see the world as a racist place. You should look into your own heart."

Unfortunately we are not simply judged on our deeds - we gotta watch our mouths as well ;'}

I have always discounted McCain doing this but I am totally confused with his tactics recently and am beginning to wonder if he may do this just to hurt the Republicans if he feels they are against him.

Which is why they don't react to well when they're attacked. They need time to figure out what they're supposed to say.

"We don't have any more troops"...what a joke and what a liar....

Wasn't that just an amazing statement. I guess every member of the military must currently be in Iraq and Afganistan. Those reservists who showed up on the Gulf Coast were just figments of our imagination. Just an example of how bad you come off if you will say absolutely anything.

"I love Mel Brooks."

History of the World-Part 1, one of the funniest movies ever produced. No matter how many times I see it, it cracks me up.

Wallace does a five minute chat on WABC radio news every week. One week there was so huge happening and when the host asked him if he would be discussing it on his Sunday show......Wallace knew nothing at about it and said his staff didn't tell him about it.

Does Wallace share a staff with hilary clinton?

Russert will not let Allen finish an answer. It is most annoying.

Why are our candidates, Allen included, so stupid when we get the steady MSM drumbeat of "should we have gone into Iraq?" question.

Here's the best answer:

1. The question is irrelevant and stupid. We are there. No amount of Monday-morning quarterbacking is going to change that.

2. Questions of this type are pedantic cheap-shots peddled by the Democrats, who seak only to gain partisan political advantage while risking the safety of our troops.

3. The Democrats who offer this hysteria voted 4:1 in favor of going into Iraq, reviewing the same intelligence as the Administration.

I saw that. Poor Chris Wallace. He so wanted to prove that the President is on the wrong side of this...and he couldn't be more off base.
