Couldn't get the darned page to open up so I couldn't read the entire text. I believe that we have been sold down the river by the prez and the senate on immigration. I do not believe that we should impeach Bush.
I disagree with you on future Buchanan articles. Even when he's wrong he's frequently thought provoking.
"When you have 6 million people apprehended on the border and several million got in on your watch - and you have the ability to stop it - I think you're derelict in your duty," he said. "And if the President says 'I can't do it,' you need a new President who will do it."
I don't see how anyone who cares about the protection of our borders could disagree with Buchanan on this point.
I don't think Bush should be impeached, but I am very disappointed in him on this issue. I think Bush has been a good president in many ways, but I also think he is totally disconnected from the vast majority of Republicans on the issue of illegal immigration. When you consider the national security risks that a de facto open borders presents it is truly maddening that a Bush would let it go on year after year. There is simply no good excuse for that. In 08 we need a President who will address the problem in a serious fashion and with a sense of urgency.
