Support the Troops and Their Mission Weekend kicks off Friday morning, September 22 with a delegation of military families and supporters visiting congressional offices to urge Representatives and Senators to not cut and run from the war on terrorists. We will gather at the horseshoe entrance to the Rayburn House Office Building at 10 a.m. on South Capitol Street just below Independence Avenue.
Friday evening, we will gather at the main gate to Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 6:30 p.m. until the dinner buses return (between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.)
WRAMC is located at 7200 Georgia Avenue, NW. The cross street is Elder Street.
Saturday, September 23, we will hold the Support the Troops and Their Mission Rally from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument. Please plan to arrive by 11:30 a.m. as the drive-by media always undercounts attendance by doing a crowd estimate just before the rally starts and then never changes that number as the crowd grows.
Weather forecast for Friday and Saturday is sunny with lows around 60 degrees and highs in the low 70s.
The Park Service prohibits glass containers, alcoholic beverages and weapons on the Mall. Please take heed. Folding chairs and blankets are okay.
If you want to go up to the top of the Washington Monument before or after the rally, you need to get timed tickets from the visitors booth on the 15th St. side of the monument. The ticket window opens at 8:30 a.m. You might want to line-up earlier.
After the rally, a dinner to celebrate Free Republic's 10th anniversary will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on the Hill, 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW. Jim Robinson will be the guest of honor.
The dinner will be an informal gathering in the Senator's Grill restaurant. Food and drink will be served a la carte. You will be responsible for however much or little you consume. The restaurant will seat us in groups of seven or eight with one check per group.
PLEASE CHECK IN ON THIS THREAD TO CONFIRM ATTENDANCE AT THE DINNER. The hotel needs to make sure they have adequate staff, etc. FReepers, lurkers and their guests in good standing are welcome. You can also freepmail me your confirmation. Reservations are not required, but it would help immensely to have a head count.

I wanted to attend the Rally badly, but damn, had long standing plans to visit my Dad in Chicago from 9/21-9/25. Best of Luck on a successful Rally!! (hope my contribution helps a bit..)
See and the group you for all three events!

BTTT and an outraged posting--my employer's email webfilter has just recently added the rally website to its "banned" list under "miscelleaneous". And there's no way to appeal. ARRGH.
Still can't rent a van without having to pay 18,967,768 in Milage charges! And I can't REALLY "Blame" my ride who ducked out on me this late!
But then again...his wife COULD have "held-off" having the baby til AFTER the Rally!! I mean!: Sheesh! Talk about timing!
Well...If I can't get help bringing my model down their--at least now I have enough money to take the train down!(after hocking my rings, hair piece, missing this months medical follow ups, selling my blood, hair...gold tooth....cat....1980 olds....
pics of the latest photo= Buildings with PHOTOS on thir sides now too-All 5 WTC buildings now have photos and all have LIGHTS Inside and on the Silver 6 foot by 7 foot display table ( no photo of that here yet)

Maybe someone here might remember me? I was the one who gave away the other 25 Posters I had MADE to those who didn't have posters--so they could also take them home and use them in their own local Rallies next time. I DO look "Mostly Harmless" Really!! See!
So anyone from the Conn-NY area going down with room for one--will help with gas money too--
But I guess my MODEL ( finished putting on the Night-Lights for NIGHT Displaying just today!) will have to stay in New York

Maybe your awesome model wouldn't fit, but I know some of the car rental places have really cheap rates with unlimited mileage. Your presence would be welcome even without your handiwork.
Count me in for the anniversary dinner.
