So far, in response to the Pope's declaration that faith must be grounded in reason and reason grounded in faith, where he made an innocent aside of a critique of Islam, the Islamic world has condemned the statements by ....

1. the weekend murder in Sudan of an elderly nun.
2. two churches bombed in the holy land.
3. Threats, violence, and intimidation around the world.

Islam is as Islam does.

"The Church has got some cojones.

Makes a feller proud (and I ain't even Catholic)!"
~~~
You don't have to be Catholic, just as long as you aren't an outraged idiot wearing a dishtowel. You're on the right side.
Hmm, 6 billion against one billion? I like our odds.
In a post the other day, I stated: "I'm REALLY, REALLY starting to like this Howard guy." Let me amend that:
I'm REALLY REALLY starting to like those Australian guys.
I am about ready to move my family to Australia. It is so refreshing to see a "Western" nation who actually has common sense regarding Islam.
we may be forced to consider how to kill a culture. Again.
You're absolutely right. But the problem this time is that the enemy is all around us, living freely in our countries with the blessing of our governments.
They live amongst us and plot mass murder and mayhem. They enjoy all of our rights, while scheming to destroy us. This is a different kind of battlefield, and we will not prevail until we scrap the nonsense of political correctness, and expel them from our midst.
We won't pick slavery - ever.
I fear that we will indeed choose slavery over death and it is precisely that Hobbesian choice which the islamo fascists are maneuvering us into.
If weapons of mass destruction can be unleashed in our homeland, a homeland which is already 50% blue, I personally believe that it will be impossible to resist demands delivered anonymously for surrender to sharia law if the alternative is death to millions of Americans. We will not know where the attack came from or where the next one will come from. We will not know against whom to retaliate. We will be powerless to prevent the destruction of the next city. America's mothers desperate for their children, will not hesitate to choose slavery over death.
It is the written aim of Al Qaeda to isolate America from its Western allies. Judging from Spain and the United Nations and the general attitude toward the war in Iraq and George Bush in particular, one must concede that the terrorists have done a good job at that. So when the testing time comes, we will be alone. We will be divided red against blue. The same media that could not find a word to write about the genocide in Ukraine but has ink to spare or praise the educational and health systems of Cuba, will no doubt inform us about the virtues of life under fundamentalist Islam. No doubt we will be told about how the women actually like the burqa and how there is so much less pornography. The politicians who today are telling us that 3000 fallen in Iraq is an unsustainable burden will hardly stand strong when hundreds of thousands are incinerated in our cities.
We must avoid being boxed into this dilemma at all costs. It means that we cannot permit Iran to have the bomb because it would imperil our very existence. It means we must formulate some sort of doctrine which has at least some chance of deterring those whose fanaticism and suicidal bent makes them otherwise immune to deterrence. It means we must dismantle the infrastructure which make terrorism possible. Ultimately, it means that we must turn sane Muslims aggressively against the crazies. We cannot survive free unless we do that.
Poll: Sinking Perceptions Of Islam
(IN) Although Americans believe they are better informed about Islam than they were five years ago, a new CBS News poll finds fewer than one in five say their impression of the religion is favorable. Forty-five percent of respondents said they have an unfavorable view of Islam, a rise from 36 percent in February. Americans today are also more likely than not to believe that Islam encourages violence, at least in comparison to other religions around the world. The poll finds 46 percent of Americans believe Islam encourages violence more than other religions, compared with 39 percent of Americans who felt that way two months ago. The last few months have seen escalating sectarian violence...
Lots of prelates and clerics expressing some pent up anger. It's a good thing IMHO.
The slain nun, Sister Leonella, 65, one of the longest-serving foreign members of the Roman Catholic Church in Somalia, worked at a charity hospital.
Shooting a 65 yr old nun in the back illustrates the great courage inherent within Islam.
Australia's Cardinal George Pell is one of the few who grasps what is at stake. Most of the Christian World, though is on the defensive, afraid of upholding its deepest values in the face of a worldwide display of unbridled fanaticism and violence that knows no limits.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
The Moozies are not only proving Pope Benedict's point in spades, they're also handing us (the West) a pretty compelling justification to go in there and finish the Crusades!
I think instead we will choose their death, wholesale, innocent and guilty. Root and branch, we will burn them to ash before we will accept slavery. Guilt - we will accept. Being monstrous? We will accept. We will eradicate all life where they exist before we will accept slavery - even if it means civil war later.
