That pic troubled me as well. :) But it was just close enough to cast some wonder. Graf with an ear ring, in his salad days, might make him more digestible and humanize him, as a candidate. It would make him more "hip." Oh well. :) No, I don't do ear rings myself. It just isn't my zeitgeist.

Apparently, some posters will post anything in their zeal to discredit this candidate.

Moderate Republican somewhat right of center overall, but I do go liberal on some issues, and hard right on others, and on some, I am just moderate! I am also aware of my own ignorance, and ignorance of so many others, on many complex issues, with awareness of the ignorance of others on a few issues on which I think I have rather deep knowledge to be emphasized more than my own. Cheers.

And, therefore, your purpose here on this conservative forum who's mission is to support conservatives and conservative causes is exactly what?

Get Jim Robinson to ban me, if you don't like it. I am done with you. Just hit the abuse button.

Why won't you tell me why you're here? What is your purpose on Free Republic?

You went out and searched hard for the one thing you could use against conservative Republican Randy Graf and found it in the most liberal rag in Tucson and posted it here. Your post serves to dampen conservative support for Randy Graf by trying to paint him as some sort of extremist. Sowing uncertainty and doubt about a conservative Republican candidate in a general election in a year where the Republican majority is threatened is NOT even close to Free Republic's mission. It is the exact opposite.

On a conservative forum dedicated to promoting conservative candidates and causes, one would have expected that a thread announcing that a conservative Republican has received the support of Republican congressional leaders and national party organizations would be full of excitement and support. Instead, the naysaying, admitted moderates had to jump in quickly to throw water on any enthusiasm for the candidate. Is this what Free Republic has become? First, it became taboo to support a third party conservative in any race. Now, posters get browbeat and belittled for supporting a conservative REPUBLICAN candidate in a critical GENERAL election. And the candidate gets dragged through the mud by the so-called moderate (liberal) posters. Is this what Free Republic really has become!!?

But, then again, we're all conservatives here.

In my judgment, AZ-8 is one of the three most likely CD's in the nation that the GOP holds now, that they will not hold in 2007. But of course, I could be wrong.

Well ... you were wrong about ASU located in Mesa (#97). It is in Tempe.

Give it a rest, Spiff. A lot of your buddies had a hissy fit over Chris Cannon recently, a conservative Republican with a near 100% ACU rating and attempted to torpedo him in the primaries. Guess his constituents saw through that b/s though, and gave him the nod anyway. You holier than thou types dump all over conservative Republican candidates every chance you get. No clean hands here.

Btw, I wish Graf and Tancredo and any just like them who win their primaries all the luck in the world. We need as many conservatives up there as we can possible get.

And Torie, if you are sowing uncertainty and doubt about a conservative Republican candidate, knock it off! We need winners now more than ever. Do not do the Democrats jobs for them.

And, yes, we are all conservatives here. Don't forget it. And don't forget Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment.

Thanks

Thank you for your attention to my post to you and for going beyond the typical flippant response. I know that my comments on this issue have been acerbic, but I am truly disturbed at the turn that Free Republic has taken since I first signed on in (actually before) 1997. I'm not trying to yank your chain or anything, I justed wanted to make my point about the direction things are going in from my observation.

A lot of your buddies had a hissy fit over Chris Cannon recently, a conservative Republican with a near 100% ACU rating and attempted to torpedo him in the primaries. Guess his constituents saw through that b/s though, and gave him the nod anyway.

Chris Cannon was NOT the most conservative candidate in that PRIMARY race. We "dumped" all over his less than conservative border security record in that PRIMARY race. Which was entirely appropriate for a PRIMARY election between two Republican candidates in an almost totally Republican district wherein no matter which Republican candidate won the primary election he would also win the general election. I believe that my actions were appropriate and kept with my consistant support for the most conservative candidate in any race. The only "b/s" in that race was the lies and smears spread by his establishment opponent and his corrupt brother who serves as the Utah state GOP chairman. Lies and smears which were echoed here by the so-called "moderates" on this site.

You holier than thou types dump all over conservative Republican candidates every chance you get. No clean hands here.

That is entirely untrue. I consistantly support the most conservative candidate. Yes, I hold everyone's feet to the fire, even conservatives. When a conservative politician steps out of line and starts going squishy, I call attention to it in hopes that some pressure may be applied to keep him on track with the conservative agenda. And I'm surprised that you would characterize that as "holier than thou". I never thought that Jim Robinson would state the opinion that someone is actually too conservative. Hmmmm...

And, yes, we are all conservatives here. Don't forget it.

And that's why two people in this very thread were either attacking or undermining conservative Republican congressional candidate Randy Graf's efforts in a critical general election and they themselves admitted that they were NOT conservative, but moderate.

And don't forget Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment.

Does that commandment apply to attacks on conservative Republican Tom Tancredo? Just wondering...

But, hey, it's your forum. You can do with it what you want. I just thought... Oh, never mind. It's your forum. Premiere...conservative...all that. Just giving you my two cents. Cheers.

That's not Graf. It's Andre Agassi.

Like I said, Mr. Graf.

I didn't say they were too conservative, I said they were "holier than thou." Meaning they think they're being more conservative than all others, even when they say damn the consequences turn it over to the rats. How conservative is that?

Sorry, we cannot afford to have such a cavalier attitude regarding our liberty or the liberty of our posterity. We must hang on to the congress this cycle and next and the White House in '08. We must end the threat of terrorism and we must complete the job of remaking the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary. Our very existence as a free nation and free society depends on it. Hell our very survival as human beings depends on it. There's no way we can risk allowing Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Kerry, Gore, et al to take over. We know exactly how they would abuse their power and where they'd take the nation.

And of course I believe we should abide by Reagan's 11th commandment. That's why I brought it up. I support Tancredo's reelection to Congress 100%. And if he should win the nomination for the presidency, I'd support him 100% for that too. I think all conservatives would... and we're all conservatives here. Everyone knows that.
