Its one thing to approve the fence and its another to provide the $$$ to build the damn thing.

Prediction: the Dems attempt to scuttle the fence in the next budget bill after the election.

Why was a cloture vote needed? Was there a filabuster threatened?

These Senators will take us all for fools and say,"see we voted for a fence" but conveniently forget about telling the people they can't fund it.

My eyes are glazing over. Does this include the funding? Are they going to pay for it?

Hey Congress, here is an idea. Put a check box on the tax form for a $10 donation from our tax returns to fund the fence for each of the next 10 tax year returns.

I'm sure we could raise several billion by then.

I'd expect a sizeable number of Republicans who voted for the original Senate bill to join them (after November, of course). Without funding, this has about as much force as those "sense of the House" resolutions.

$85 million will buy a 3 foot high picket fence.

"Prediction: the Dems attempt to scuttle the fence in the next budget bill after the election."

Their usual motus-operandi is to attach goofy special-interest amendments thereby poison-pilling the vote.

I just watched Feinstein admit there are 1 million illegals doing agricultural jobs in CA, and she wants an amendment to provide them amnesty (she refers to them as "undocumented" vs. the "illegal aliens" that they are), if they've been in the U.S. working for 150 workdays out of the last 3 years.

This is total B.S.

She went on to claim that she called 59 Welfare Offices to see if there were any workers who would take the Ag-jobs, and could get NO ONE.

She should be requiring welfare recipients that are able (not physically incapacitated) to WORK the offered jobs, or forfeit their welfare checks! What's wrong with welfare-for-work, instead of justifying this illegal worker crap of doing "jobs Americans won't do"?

Oh yeah, the companies don't pay enough to sustain a "living wage", etc., etc.

B.S........Americans would be willing to PAY for busses to Mexico to remove the invasion forces.

AND, no more anchor baby crap, either. If you are NOT here legally, the child is not LEGALLY an American citizen automatically just because you broke into this country, and dropped a baby here.

It's just the vote to stop talking about it and put it up to a vote. All this means is they don't feel like filibustering it, says nothing about whether or not it will actually pass.

That's a good question. Nobody voted against it, so why didn't they just establish the rule by unanimous consent?

I'd say, build a fence around congress. Keep them in and away from the general public. Oh, and cut the phone lines also. We'd be money ahead.
