You would think they were buildin' the damn Panama Kanal!
Actually, I've thought about this before. They could build a new canal, like an Arizona-California Canal. And enhance the south side of it with a secure border fence. Useful for commerce and controlling the border.

That would be a good idea. Then we wouldn't be held hostage by the $100k/yr union longshoremen in California anymore.
