We could be even more American and start producing our own energy instead of importing a high percentage of it. Oil is fungible, so even if you buy oil from a non-Citgo station, Chavez still makes money.

My wife gets $20 Citgo gas cards as a bonus from her work for good attendance. I spoke with her boss at a party a couple of weeks ago, and I eventually convinced him to give out Mobil gas cards. He was very understanding...he being a Demorat and all. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

You can be an all-American boy of Hispanic lineage, and at the current demographic trend of the US, that will be the most common appearing child in a few decades.

And I suggest that we email Fox and ask why in the world they had an ad for Citgo on Brit's Special Report last night. I guess greed trumps patriotism at Fox, too, since it's owned by that slime-ball Murdoch. I'd have expected CNN to run Citgo's spot, but Fox should be doing well enough with their ratings to have turned it down. Maybe conservatives will have to teach them a lesson.

I love it! Yes, Venezuelan oil will still be sold "somewhere" but why not Boycott their main US outlet? Sounds like a plan to me!
To: shortstop
This is silly. Boycotting Citgo will have no effect since Venezuelan oil is sold on a world market. You would have to boycott ALL oil to make a difference.
Incidentally, Venezuelan oil is of rather low quality. There are not that many refineries that can effectively handle the high sulfur content of sour Venezuelan crude. Because of this, Venezuela is forced to offer their oil well below the benchmark price for sweet crude.

"Instead of using government to help the rich and the corporate, as Bush does, Chavez is using the resources and oil revenue of his government to help the poor in Venezuela."Don't these bone-heads realize that the poor in the USA are very well-off compared to the poor in these turd-world countries??? The liberals' stupidity knows no bounds!

I continue to be mystified as to why we haven't been working actively to do this.
There is a good group of people that have been working hard to make changes but until recent times it has been slow going. There just is not much support from the public for getting anything done.

I haven't bought Citgo in 2 years. All stations in Ohio will be closing next year (so it has been said).

"I will not buy Citgo gasoline."
LETS DO IT
Many of my friends didn't know about CITGO until I told them it was owned by the State of Venezuela. Get the word out.
To: shortstop
Citgo has been the poorest rated gas for years. I never stop at a Citgo station.

Oil is a fungible commodity. It does no good to introduce facts and sense into a thread like this.

It's tough to harm Oooogo this way, because oil is fungible.
But somehow I still can't bring myself to buy Citgo gas. At least the Saudis pretend to honor an entente with us.

I quit buying gas from CITGO years ago...
They have closed most of their operations here, in any case. People have been tacitly boycotting them for some time.

So THAT'S why Chavez smelled sulphur! It was probably HIM!
To: P-40
I purchase Citgo gas almost exclusively, not to support Chavez who has been in power a few years but to support the local business which has been selling Citgo for 25 plus years. Many independent "mom and pops" sell Citgo and I see no reason to punish them.
From what I have read Chavez is destroying the Venezuelan oil industry all on his own.
To: Jaxter
Boy is that on point.
Boycotting Citgo is NOT the same as boycotting French wine.

I just heard another American asking the same question and pointing out the Citgo holds the contract at all the Navy bases. If so, that should stop.
We definately need to start using alternative fuels.
