Democrats warn Chavez: Don't bash Bush

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Two of President Bush's staunchest domestic critics leapt to his defense Thursday, a day after one of his fiercest foreign foes called him "the devil" in a scorching speech before the United Nations.

"You don't come into my country; you don't come into my congressional district and you don't condemn my president," Rep. Charles Rangel, D-New York, scolded Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-California, was blunt in her criticism of the Venezuelan leader. "He is an everyday thug," she said. (Watch Rangel rip Chavez -- 1:28 )

Chavez kept up his criticism of Bush during a visit to Harlem on Thursday, calling the U.S. president "a sick man" who is unqualified for the job. Chavez also said he is expanding his heating-oil program to help low-income Americans.

During his speech before the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday, Chavez launched into a caustic verbal attack of Bush that shocked diplomats and observers accustomed to the staid verbiage of international diplomacy. (Full story)

"The devil came here yesterday," Chavez said, referring to Bush, who addressed the world body during its annual meeting Tuesday. "And it smells of sulfur still today."

Chavez accused Bush of having spoken "as if he owned the world" when the U.S. president addressed the world body on Tuesday. (Watch how Chavez's belligerence may backfire -- 3:11)

Rush was laughing at their objections, as if they haven't said the same things for the last few years.

I do get the point of it being a foreign leader on U.S. soil, at least the non-U.N. presentations, but that's a pretty shallow defense when the guy says them same things you have been.

I think your comment is funny. Who knows, that may play into it to a degree whether consciously or subconsciously

They must be sitting back and let the leftist tear each other up, and the G.O.P knows the American public is getting wise onto this whole shenanigans the DEMS and CHAVEZ are up to

" They know that Chavez' screed could turn out to have the same effect as OBL's pre-election warning to Americans back in 2004...and they want to distance themselves from it. "

You mean the Democrats are distancing themselves from their 2008 Presidential front running CHAVEZ because their Democrat leftist internal polls are showing that he is having a positive effect on the useful idiots , DUmmies, and the ANTI-AMERICAN crowd so they have to distance themselves.... lol...

They don't know when to stop digging when they are in a hole they can't dig themselves out....lol...

Keep talking DEMS,, no matter what you say, or how you explain yourselves, it's having a negative effect.

The scariest part of today for me was the fact that Chavez KNEW he would get the adulation and affirmation he wanted up in Harlem.

It's like he's trying to undermine this country by using the weakest people.

 Exactly!

DEMS/D.N.C words to Chavez:

" you idiot, you stupid idiot, the con game was almost flawless, we almost had the American public fooled, and now you let the cat out of the bag that you are our..( Democrat Presidential candidate Hugo Chavez in 2008 ).. 2008 Presidential front runner, but, now you messed it up by using the DNCs sound bites we told you not to use until the right time and plan is hatched... " .... lol

Hey Rush ? now there is a great parody to use, and it's so true....

I patiently await the assured widespread reporting of the important timeline.

Only Rush played the full statement...the DNC MSM drive-by-media already edited the sound bite to fit their agenda.

Where it should be. Sidelined. Chavez is their problem, not the GOP's.

I disagree, my Big Sky Guy. I feel that it's small and disingenuously distasteful to play politics upon the absolutely dispicable displays of the last two days.

The Democrats created this "mess", they embraced it, and now, they need to figure out how to get out of it before November 7th, the last thing the GOP needs to do is throw them a life preservor, and now that Hugo Chavez, who was unbeknown to most Americans has had his place at the world stage, they understand the Democrats more clearly with each passing day they ignore the problem.

LOL! That would be a great parody for Rush!...........By the way, my memory is fading, it's been so long, but didn't Osamma come out with one of his dopey tapes a couple of days before the 2004 election? He was urging Americans to vote for Lurch, and if you voted for Bush you were stupid ,or something like that,........I can't remember, but everything he said sounded just like RAT talking points, and then we won ,hhmmm anybody got Osama's cell phone number?.........

What I want to see in the next few days is the GOP and Republicans in Congress pound the DEMS hard for being on the side of the leftist , Hugo, President of Iran, and siding with the terrorist.
Then we will have all the DEMS grit their teeth and say:

" we all along have supported OUR President Mr. Bush "

and then, have the Republicans and talk show hosts come back and say:

" ohh yeah ? right, what about all of the attacks and insults on President Bush in the last 5 years by the Democrats/MSM ? "

and watch the Democrats/MSM explain, back peddle, squirm and weasel their way out of this one in front of all Americans to see only a few weeks before the elections.

Same tactics being used to brainwash the Aztland masses. They are trying to drive a wedge between white and dark or European and non-European. Someone needs to tell Chavez he has some European in him.

I think if they were in cahoots, they would have come out against Chavez much sooner than they did.

Not only that, but the dimwits have really painted themselves into a corner here. How can they bash Bush now before the elections ? Bashing Bush is Angelides (socialists running for CA Governor) number one tactic against Arnold right now. They have just neutered their number one campaign tactic.

I actually think they're miffed because his ravings are so much more creative than theirs.

Yeah, he sounded like Henny Youngman with that line about the place still smelling like sulfur.

Yes... you are right, and the Democrats/MSDBM tried to spin that one also, and there was a great parody on SNL and it was so funny, and so true.... " I OSBL endorse John F. Kerry for President " ....lol

Would be great to have a few reporters ask the President of Iran and Hugo who they want to win the November elections,,, lol,, it would be great to watch and see the DEMS/DNC/MSM/ try to spin that one, and squirm... lol
