You guys want to ignore the fact that these lawsuits were generated by Americans United...a Christian organization!

Complete BS. The "Rev" Barry Lynn's presence does not make it a Christian organization. Barry Lynn was also a former ACLU officer. They frequently join the ACLU in lawsuits. The ban on nativity displays on city property was generated by the ACLU here in Pittsburgh - kind of ironic considering Christmas is a federal holiday.

Stop blaming the ACLU and "secularists".

No, we'll keep putting the blame where it belongs, with the ACLU. BTW, you've generated an admirable amount of text in support of these enemies domestic, but too many of us already know the truth about them.

Recommended reading is ACLU - The Devil's Advocate by F. LaGard Smith (professor of law at Pepperdine).

There is no court ban on nativity displays on city property.
The display was on the courthouse steps, but even then there was no problem with the display itself. The problem was the angel's sign on the courthouse steps. They could have taken the sign down or moved the display off of the courthouse steps. They chose to make a political statement on the courthouse steps. This was a staged event plain and simple.
THE SUPREME COURT'S DECISION: 492 U.S. 573

"When viewed in its overall context, the creche display violates the Establishment Clause. The creche angel's words endorse a patently Christian message: Glory to God for the birth of Jesus Christ.

Although the government may acknowledge Christmas as a cultural phenomenon, it may not observe it as a Christian holy day by suggesting that people praise God for the birth of Jesus...History cannot legitimate practices like the creche display that demonstrate the government's allegiance to a particular sect or creed."

Complete BS. The "Rev" Barry Lynn's presence does not make it a Christian organization.
Americans United was founded by protestant Christians in 1947. Although they are non denominational, the overwhelming majority are congregates of the United Church of Christ. The Reverend Barry Lynn has been the Executive Director of Americans United since 1992 and he is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ.

Lawsuits require a complaining party. The complaining party in these lawsuits are congregates of the United Church Of Christ.

Barry Lynn was also a former ACLU officer.
He was the legislative counsel for the Washington office of the ACLU from 1984 until 1991.
The founder of the ACLU was a Christian minister and Christians are the majority of the ACLU membership.

Interesting link.
