Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez gets standing ovation at New York college

After a UN speech in which he called US President Bush "Satan," Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez got a standing ovation with another anti-Bush speech at a New York college.

The South American leader spoke at Cooper Union last night before a packed audience including professors and union organizers.

Chavez proclaimed himself "a friend" of the people of the United States, but said he hopes next time, they'll choose, in his words, an "intelligent president."

He got the standing ovation for comments accusing Bush of committing genocide in Iraq.

Chavez compared the Bush administration's actions to those of the Nazis and said the U-S president should be brought before an international tribunal.

Venezuela's president has become Latin America's leading voice against the US government, taking on the crusading style of his mentor, Fidel Castro.

The US is the top customer for Venezuela's oil.

Another educational institution heard from. I type this same statement day after day. What a sad state of affairs that what was once a great educational system is now nothing more than high cost indoctrination centers.

Hard to believe that a hushed audience once listened to presidential candidate Abraham Lincoln in that same hall.

My thoughts exactly when I Wiki'ed information on this particular college. Alot of familliar names made some pretty important speeches in the halls of Cooper.

The ROT from within.

The infiltration and subversion of our higher educational
system.

The graduates will go on to run corporate / Industrial America into the ground.

Yep... And the laws don't protect even carriers of diplomatic passports from engaging in our domestic political discourse on our own soil. What Chavez is doing amounts to a form of espionage by a foreign agent.

If he and the others like him weren't bobble heads they'd probably be more dangerous. But all they're doing is whipping up a frenzy in the traitors in our midst, making them even far less attractive to the average American voter, which is doing us a favor in the long run.

The funniest part is that they actually think they're advancing their agenda.

Many Cooper Union lectures are open to all. It sounds like this one was, too. Here's a blog entry from the type of lefty who attended. They were not all students. There were even some Hassidic Jews in the audience, for some reason. Chavez used them as a prop to claim that he had Jewish friends but was against Israeli aggression.

Moonbat Harry Belafonte introduced Chavez, for what it's worth.

"intelligent president."

A president that will privatize public corporations, redistribute the wealth, promote minority rule, tax churches, establish public domain to private property, disenfranchise and/or imprison political foes, and bring us to a form of egalitarian government reminiscent of the dark ages.

Chavez can always finance his Marxist government from the country's mineral reserves. Its not not that easy for most other countries it not that easy. He knows this and see them as houses of cards that be pulled down by economic failure. And he also knows if enough incompetent people get to office, America is headed for a collapse. He can say what he wants about George Bush, but he will never admit that he really knows that he is a righteous, intelligent, strong leader and servant to his people. That's fine Hugo, in six weeks the people you pandered this week will have forgotten your name.

Another lost opportunity.

Target-rich environment.

"I'm tried of this idiot. The people of his country need to revolt."

The people of THIS country (USA) need to revolt over this incident. Who allowed this POS to enter the US? Who okayed him to extend his stay and preach terrorism and hatred while defaming our great country?

We have missed a great opportunity to take this guy out. Then again that would make him a martyr. Oh well....pandering to an admitted and self-proclaimed enemy of the U.S. is an act of treason at the highest levels.

What has happened to my country?

The college was Cooper Union, and I will have nothing to do with it, its students, its professors, or its alumni.

I think the school meant well. Bring in Chavez and let him give his idiotic speech so he can be shown as has. They didn't count on the audience being more idiotic an he.

My guess is that the Hasidim were members of a fringe group that are against the creation of the state of Israel. They were making the rounds here today, and were also seen with Ahmadinejad (who apparently hasn't gone home yet).

We probably have to let these cretins into the country to address the U.N. General Assembly. We probably don't have to let them speak elsewhere if we didn't want to. But if we silenced our critics by stopping them from giving speeches, we'd open ourselves up to a charge of hypocrisy on the freedom of speech front.

This is the Left. It is anti-American. The Democrat Party is its Political Machine. The "Mainstream Newsmedia" is its Propaganda Machine.

Our country is doing what it is supposed to do, and what Chavez and Casto's countries do not allow: Free speech. Even speech that criticizes government and its leaders. Not to say I agree with it. In fact, Chavez looks and sounds rather stupid hmself. We'll be the judge of whether his words are true or not.

Just read that Cooper Union is an "engineering school"...Social Engineering I'm guessing. Why are they receiving Pell Grants while allowing enemies of our country to spout their propaganda? You are correct, the enemy is within.
