Boycott Citgo Note: All the Citgo Stations in my area of Florida are affiliated with 7 Eleven Stores. An e-mail/ letter writing campaign to 7 Eleven in protest might be appropiate. I just got off the phone with customer service at 7-Eleven and the representative told me that the contract with Citgo has expired and they are exploring other options. She said that they are getting complaints about Chavez's rant at the United Nations. Now would be a good time to call them to express your feelings about their affiliation with Chavez. Sorry for posting here but I thought this might be important. Everyone needs to contact 7-Eleven to air their thoughts about Citgo and Chavez.

I think everyone should drive less and then the oil countries will have much less money to use against us.

Agreed - a boycott of CITGO stations will only result in the 12,000 independent station owners (who are Americans) being thrown out of business - it will do nothing to hurt Chavez or lower his oil income.

All the gasoline refiners have sharing agreements where the gas is "pooled" at major distribution centers and then farmed out to various retail outlets covering all "brands" of gasoline -

Before shipment by truck to the gas stations it is placed in blending tanks where the special chemical additives are added to make it become "Shell" or "Exxon", etc

Thus it does not matter which brand you chose to boycott or purchase - either way some of that fuel was made from oil that came from Venezuela

Not really useless. Oil and gasoline are indeed fungible commodities... but the capital tied up in these stations and stores is costing Citgo money if they aren't selling through them.

The Citgo franchise is a separate issue from the oil Venezuela brings to market. I haven't bought from Citgo in years, and discourage others from doing so.

No it's not. There is much more to it as Citgo makes a profit on every gallon of gas they sell, a profit that will not be realized if they "sell it's oil to other refiners"

BTW...the Harlem "pep rally" was for Chavez was sponsored by Citgo. From MM:

Don't forget to write your congressman and senator, as for a tarriff tax on oil from Venezuela - that tax revenue will be used to fund the shortcomings he noted in his speech we don't do properly and, to fund the newly restructed UN he outlined.

I have been boycotting Citgo and Lukoil (run by the Russian mob) for months. I buy BP or Shell.

I would like to have a bumper sticker that says "This car does not stop at Citgo" if anyone knows of such.

Please contact the US Navy and tell them to not let Citgo have exclusive rights to on-base gas stations in the Tidewater, VA area...and then ask them to give all the sailors and marines, compensation for their gas, as they will then be paying $0.10-20 more per gallon off base.

And all the sandwiches sold at the woolworths lunch counter come from an american owned bread company so it wouldn't do any good to boycott woolworth.
