Boycott Citgo

Really stupid idea. Citgo stations are owned, for the most part, by US citizens. They buy fuel from all sources. Boycotts NEVER work. Waste of time and energy.

Yeah, but I would guess that they could not get a cheaper deal. Money has a lot of power to make decisions. Principle usually takes a back seat to this sort of decision making.

Home heating oil should be eliminated in any case. I really find it hard to understand why people still use it, but I do know that the electrical and gas grids in the East sorta suck, and cannot handle the higher loads of electric or natural gas heating.

They need to rectify this, I am tired of the issue coming up every stinking year.

Not quite useless. My not buying Chavez's gas won't keep him from doing his evil. But by golly, he won't be using my money to do it!

What part of "oil is fungible" is hard to understand? Money (even yours) is fungible as well.

Actually it's an entirely different thing than emotional reaction and regurigtating junk emails.

Just FYI I have been in the oil business for 37 years (not CITGO)

.... and thus I am well versed in the actual facts as to how crude oil from all sources are blended together - and I don't need a so called press release to be informed as to how the industry actually operates

All gasoline goes to major distribution centers were the "generic" gasoline is then stored in holding tanks that don't have labels on them as to where it was "refined" - or the sources of crude oil that were used...

...Please be my guest and put all 12,000 stations out of business that use the CITGO retail label if it makes you feel better when you fill up your tank. ..my only point is that in boycotting CITGO branded stations so you are not removing one dime of the oil income that Chavez now receives by selling his crude oil to US refining sources

According to Fox News the American boycott of French products had cost France over $500 Million by mid 2003.

Personally, I don't buy French products, nor do I buy gas at CITGO stations. I don't knowingly patronize any business or country that I believe is working to undermine the US. I don't ask others to follow me, nor agree with me. Its my money, my opinion, and my option in a free country to make my purchases based on factors that are important to me.

I am not at all a fan of the boycott in general because they usually hurt innocent employees. However, in this case I encourage all American employees to find work elsewhere 'cause I'm not spending a nickel at a Citgo. I don't know if that's a boycott but I do know they aren't getting any money from me.

Is it CITGO nationwide, or just CITGO in FL? I live in FL, so I don't patronize our CITGO stations.

Oh and btw most gas stations are not owned by small business men they are owned by RAGHEADS!!!!They bring family over to run the places...

I guess you are saying that the price Chavez gets for Citgo oil will not change even if we boycott Citgo, the oil will just go on the world market and be sold elsewhere, perhaps even come back to the US anyway, just by another route.

I'm sure you are making a good point, but I'm damned if I'll buy directly from them anyway.

Considering that both Islamic terror and Chavez' government are funded by oil profits, it seems a no brainer that the West needs to do something about it. If a boycott would not be effective, then national security and the preservation of our civilization would seem to dictate some sort of action by our leadership. Unfortunately, that seems like a long shot on the national level, at least for now, and an even longer shot on the international level.

One wonders if W has his eye on this particular ball, or if anyone in Congress does.

Venezuelan oil is gradually being replaced with sour crude from other countries.

I do not see that trend.

FYI I have been in the oil business for 37 years...

Well I've never worked in the oil business (except for pumping gas in my youth) or fought in Vietnam or been to Iraq but I ain't buying CITGO gas unless the "independent" dealers switch brands. Call me stubborn or just plain stupid.
