After watching the rant, oops, interview, Clinton slipped up. He showed his cards by uttering three little words: wag the dog. It was like a light bulb going off in my head. Now it made sense. Clinton is once again 'mixing' historical events to conform to what he wants the world to remember.

Oh, I could just HUG you! I have been trying to FIND that thought in my mind since I watched that interview, but it wouldn't come to me!

You're exactly right: he is changing the facts/discussion; "wag the dog" was NOT about his obsessing with bin Laden -- it was his using missles to DISTRACT from Monica.

Oh, thank you.......you just don't know how much I appreciate you posting this!

Ah, yes, we need to look back in the archives for this. I keep up with world events, and I don't recall ever hearing anything about bin Laden during the Clintoon years. In fact, when he decided to bomb the empty jihadi training camp, he is recorded as saying they did it to get "bin Layden"...even misprouncing his name. Now if it was a great topic of conversation, why didn't anyone even know how to say his name?
And of course, Rush, THE MAN in "right winger" circles, should have had numerous hours of comment on bin Laden, if the right had been so indignant at poor Billy Jeff because he was so dedicated to fighting terrorism. I'll bet there are virtually none of these references on Rush's show until after 9/11.
What a pant load this twisted liar is! He is determined to rewrite history one lie at a time.

You know, I think Clinton has confused himself with Richard Clarke, who WAS obsessed with bin Laden; and I think Clinton has forgotten that Richard Clarke has been DOCUMENTED to be a liar.

No one EVER accused the disgraced, impeached, alleged serial rapist xxx-President Bubba "42" Klintoon to be obsessed with OBL, or any hunt for him. Not a single person.

Expect to hear this talking point to be repeated until the 'Toon is caricatured by history as Ahab-like in his quest for the Great White Osama.

No - Clinton bombed Iraq at the exact moment the House of Representatives was voting for the Articles of Impeachment.

I still remember the split screen on CNN - one showing the vote, and the other showing anti-aircraft batteries going off in Baghdad.

Clinton was desperately trying to divert attention from his crimes.

Clinton came under intense criticism in 1998 by the GOP after he launched an attack on suspected terrorist targets in Afghanistan and Sudan. Intelligence indicated bin Laden and his top associates were meeting at a training camp when U.S. missiles were fired at it, just weeks after al Qaeda terrorists bombed U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya.

The attack was launched on the same day Lewinsky, a former White House intern, wrapped up her testimony before a grand jury investigating whether Clinton lied under oath about their relationship or encouraged anyone else to do so.

"During that time when the attack was launched in Afghanistan and Sudan, there was a movie out called 'Wag the Dog,' " Cohen testified Tuesday. In the movie, an administration launched a fake war as a political ploy. "There were critics of the Clinton administration that attacked the president, saying this was an effort on his part to divert attention from his personal difficulties.

"I would like to say for the record under no circumstances did President Clinton ever call upon the military and use that military in order to serve a political purpose."

Cohen served as a Republican U.S. senator from Maine before Clinton appointed him to the defense post.

In the past, Clinton's critics assailed the Afghanistan raid — plus another attack on a pharmaceutical factory in Sudan — as ineffective maneuvers whose main value was as a "Wag the Dog" diversion from the Monica Lewinsky scandal. (Clinton ordered the attacks at the height of the scandal, three days after testifying before independent counsel Kenneth Starr's grand jury.) Now, whatever Clinton's motivation, George W. Bush has made it clear he sees the action as a model of how not to strike back at terrorism. "When I take action, I'm not going to fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt," Bush reportedly told a group of senators. "It's going to be decisive."

His aides complained that the press and even some Republicans labeled the action a "wag the dog" scenario, and this deterred Clinton from taking further action. But if Clinton had had one ounce of sincerity in his "battle" against terrorism, he would have been undeterred by mere public relations troubles. The disgraceful truth is that he was incapable of pursuing anything other than his own narrow self-interest -- not even the welfare of the nation he swore to preserve, protect and defend.

Clinton and his loyal following are not delusional, but hard core politicians who peddle delusional ideas to the masses.

Didn't you really enjoy the hysteria leading up to the ABC show, The Path to 9/11 precisely for that reason?

The liberals have spent YEARS subtling convincing people if you see it on ABC, NBC, or CBS it has to be true -- and here he was, faced with a movie he KNEW people were going to believe word for word because IT WAS ON TV!

It was swell.

Weekend Live is conducting an email poll on whether Bubba Billy did enough to catch Bin Laden, etc...
Fox News new web site makes it nigh impossible to find out how to respond - but Brian Wilson - Weekend Live - has finally said how to reach him, remarking that the new site makes it very hard to find the way...
weekendlive@foxnews.com
here's the email address - evidently from what Wilson just said, he's getting inundated with emails - he'll soon hear with my evaluation of Bubba and his 8 years of fun and bullying - and his attitude of don't bother me with heavy stuff that will interfere with my fun and games - and collecting money

Yes you are correct. "Wag the dog" was not about OBL, it was about bombing Serbia to take the news stories away from Monica. I was as interested in politics then as I am now, I don't recall even knowing anything about OBL at that time. I remember being extremely put out with Starr because he was focusing on sex in the Oval Office and not on selling nuclear secrets to China. I didn't care what BJclinton did with Monica, I still don't.

See post #68.

I guess you are right but the name OBL was not familiar to me and I had no idea who he was at the time. I can remember wondering why he was bombing an aspirin factory in Sudan. My focus of dislike/distrust for clinton was Chinese campaign money/Vince Foster/nuclear secrets give away/hillary is a b*tch, not OBL or Monica.

Speaking of impeached, are we really going to let an impeached President back into the White House, though this time as the spouse of the President? History would have a field day with this.

The greatest success of Clinton's presidency was having sex with a 20 something year old intern in the Oval Office.
