Salon published an article today in which there former teammates of George Allen from the football team of the University of Virginia accuse him of using the "n-word" in college and of stuffing the severed head of a deer into the mailbox of a black person.
Three former college football teammates of Sen. George Allen say that the Virginia Republican repeatedly used an inflammatory racial epithet and demonstrated racist attitudes toward blacks during the early 1970s.Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place,'" said Dr. Ken Shelton, a white radiologist in North Carolina who played tight end for the University of Virginia football team when Allen was quarterback. "He used the N-word on a regular basis back then.
The views of these three are highlighted throughout the article, and they are given a sympathetic hearing. But Salon's own article betrays the bias with which the piece was written.
Over the past week, Salon has interviewed 19 former teammates and college friends of Allen from the University of Virginia. In addition to the three who said Allen used the word "nigger," two others who were contacted said they remember being bothered by Allen's displaying the Confederate flag in college, but said they do not remember him acting in an overtly racist manner. Seven others said they did not know Allen well outside the football team, but do not remember Allen demonstrating any racist feelings. A separate seven teammates and friends said they knew Allen well and did not believe he held racist views. "I don't believe he was insensitive," said Paul Ryczek, who played center in Allen's year before joining the Atlanta Falcons. "He had no prejudices, biases or anything else."
So let's get the numbers straight: three former teammates--some who have contributed to Democrats--say that he racist while SEVEN say for sure that he's not racist. That means that more than twice as many people say definitively that he's not a racist than those that say that he is one. Regardless, the views of the three are given much more weight than the views of the seven.
Something doesn't seem quite right with that, does it? This story has all the credibility of a Dan Rather report on Bush's National Guard service.
I wonder what his views on Jews were back then?
........ a deer John letter?
LOL!

what passes for "media" and "news" these days is just hysterical...

This writer for Salon has NO credibility!! I heard from the cousin of a friend of the brother of his college roommate that he intended to falsely slander a Republican at some point.
Salon?
An "S" word, if ever there was one.
Democrats smell an upset. They're piling on.
They always over reach.
LOL I used to catch big ole carp out of the river near my home and stuff them in mailboxes.
Meanwhile, Senator Byrd __________(fill in the blank)
The democrats are really reaching to come up with this drek.
If this is all they can come up with this early I'd say they have shot their bolt, but then there is no depth of
depravity they won't stoop to in their lust for power.
....back in the 70's ????
Now the blacks use the word on a regular basis. Go figure.
I would hate to list the words and names we used in the 1970's!
"Salon accuses Allen of using the "N-word" in college"
Which was what for him, 30 years ago? I am pretty sure I did some things 30 years ago that would be considered offensive today.
lol
It's the moonbat leftists who want blacks to stay "where blacks know their place." That place being the Democratic Party.
They must be really scared of Allen.
Wish I understood why!
LOL ........ you should hear what the wife's sister of that cousin has to say!
;-)
