Just because a guy makes a movie about Jesus Christ does not mean he embodies Christlike attitudes or doesn't have serious personality disorders or is not filled with hate.
I have never admired this angry, narcissistic, intolerant and greedy man. ( I also don't like him). Most of his movies show his rage. It is possible to make a movie about the passion and death of Christ without the gratutious violence that puts it on the level of a snuff film.
The Mel Gibson themes just keep on...the narcissism, the greediness, and of course the rage. Note his bizzare comment re similarity of Mayan and American societies..." HUMAN SACRIFICE ".
The guy is sick, sick, sick~!
(later, I will tell you what I really think of him!)
No really, don't hold back, just let it flow....
however, I'm done with Mel
The hands that nail Jesus in the film are actually Gibson's hands. So on some level he is quite aware of his own shortcomings.
Having said that, I think he is a troubled man and is anti-semitic (something he got from his father). Somehow I can't understand how a man who fought the Axis in WWII (Gibson's father) can be an anti-semite; but he was in the Pacific, not Europe...so his eyes didn't have a chance to override what must have been some earlier 'programming'...
Lol! ... and all along I thought it was just me that he had always rubbed the wrong way.
The west also ended the practice of setie (or is that seti?) in which the indian widow was thrown ALIVE on the burning funeral pyre of her husband.
LOL! Tell us now. I'm on pins and needles.
Seriously, I think old Mel has gone around the bend. He's lost it.
(If he ever had it to lose, that is)
"The guy is sick, sick, sick~!
(later, I will tell you what I really think of him!)"
LOL!
You are right - his comparison of the war in Iraq - whatever one might think of that war - with Mayan sacrifice is simply ignorant. It is a foolish and improper analogy. We did not send soldiers to Iraq to placate an angry god or to manipulate the forces of nature, but to accomplish specific political objectives.
